Hi all. I'm putting my stuff back on the engine,But the power steering pump is about 1/2 off with the crank pulley. When I got the car (seven years ago) I didn't notice anything wrong. But mind you the engine wasn"t in the car. Here's a picture, should I add spacers or is there different pulleys?
Alignment.

Hard to tell from the picture but I think some of the power steering pump pulleys can come off and just turn over to change their alignment if it would help

alternator and water pump go to inside pulley on crankshaft pulley. Power steering belt rides on outside groove on crankshaft

I say you got wrong crank pulley on there

I guess that's possible. How wide should it be?The engine is not from a charger and I can't be sure it was the one that was in the car. It was out when I got the car.

How "wide" should what be? That makes no sense.....

I would suggest getting the correct pulleys for a non-AC car, but that's just me

oh sorry, not wide as in dia. but what would the measurement be for outside edge to the block? And yes I plan to get another pulley.

Hard Charger

there are different pulleys.

I just put in power steering with the rebuild and was buying parts for years. I have a open pulley that is pressed on. it has a bit of a off-set to it. it installs what I would call backwards at first thought. I have since seen the same on others cars.

curious for you guys that install power steering pulleys backwards.....how do you get it off again if need be?

The part you pull on with the special puller is now on the inside of the pump shaft

That was the same question that came to my mind. :scratchchin:

I took the steering pulley off and it wouldn't work backwards. But after looking at it again tonight I'm not sure it's the crank pulley. If you move the belt back anymore it will touch the water pump pulley.I'll have to play around with it somemore , is there different off sets for the steering pulleys?
