Looking for some engine bay shots

I found several on this site and posed a few questions in paint & body but a few things are still unclear.

Can someone post a pic or two of their 2nd gen engine bay?  Specifically the nuts and bolts on the firewall so I can see which are anodized and which are painted.  And the battery tray bolts or if someone can just tell me if all 8 are the same or not.  I have at least 4 different types and I think they should be the ones with the 7/8 attached washer.

Aarrghh!  I just checked the hood hinge bolts and they're different as well.  What the heck did they do to this poor car!   :eek2:

I remember seeing a post that said the hinge to body bolts all have different sized washers.  Mine did not and there wasn't anything to indicate the hinges have ever been removed so I'm reusing the bolts with the 7/8" OD washer so I can use the marks they left on the hinges to get them back in their correct spot.  The hood to hinge bolts however are different, and maybe they should be I don't know.  2 have the 7/8 washer and two have the smaller washer.  Is it supposed to be like this?

I just got trough the part of reinstalling my hood for panel alignment and I can tell you I had 4 bolts with 4 equal washers in the bag. Same for the hinge to body bolts.

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

Dino

That makes sense, I didn't see any reason to have different sizes on there.  Thanks!

I don't think that's what Dino was asking for to help him with his dilemma  :shruggy:

Mopar Nut

Not mine. Bottom picture must be a 70.

Thanks guys this is very helpful!

It looks like the nut on the brake booster plate is anodized as well, and the last picture confirms what White & Red said about the battery tray strap bolt having a smaller washer.   :2thumbs:

Why that brake plate has such a long stud is a mystery to me.

Charger-Bodie

I think the long stud aided in the installation of the booster assembly while the cars were being built.

Heres a unrestored original Hood Hinge with bolts. Notice the one upper bolt has a bigger washer. LEON.

Dino

Thanks Leon, that's what I remembered.  My hinges don't show anytraces of the bigger washer for some reason.

Can anyone confirm that the hinge to hood bolts have a 7/8" OD washer or if it's smaller?

I've seen these both ways.  I like the big washer for the location where it bolts to the fender. It just squeezes eveyghing tighter . other two bolt to the apron.

Not sure how stock mine is, outside of the engine (because its not) but here's a few of mine if they help at all .

Here's one from a general lee that was at the race Track if it helps.
1969 Charger  Orange /black top  (1989) 360 engine stock with added xtreme comp cam and a 4 bbl  , 904 trans/shift kit , 8-1/4 rear.. with general lee accents.

If you are still unsure ? I can go take some Pics on mine for you.

It's a '69 R/T that has never been touched, ever, so it might be at least "one" good reference of what the factory was doing  with bolts/washers. etc. ?

All i had when i got the car was a blower fan ..no heater box or blower tube or anything for that matter. So i just removed it made a spot for my coil. Don't drive it in the winter anyway. and can use never fog if I need to so far has not been an issue.

Thanks TT

I can use pics of just about any nut and bolt in the engine bay as the ones in mine were replaced with non stock somewhere down the line.  For example, my vacuum cannister had one hex bolt and one phillips.   :brickwall:

I think I have the battery tray figured out and will be ordering new bolts and U nuts.  The nuts holding the heater box were stripped of paint yesterday but they are in pretty bd shape for some reason so I'm replacing those with new ones, same with the brake booster nut.  I have the blower fan nuts but found some on ebay in the correct plating.  I have the voltage regulator bolts, still need to buy the correct heater valve screws as I have only one stock, the others are different.  A/C bracket bolts I'm not sure are stock.  Well, you get the idea.
