Just looking for some help here guys since I have never owned a 66 charger before. I'm in the process of getting the car running and im ready to get some tires and rims ordered for it. Im unsure if I want to buy 14" rims and tires for it or if I should buy 15" rims and tires for it. Im leaning towards 15" tires and rims mostly because of filling up the wheel wells a little better. I am only wanting to get magnum 500 rims and some form of redline tires. I love the sidewall appearance of bias redlines but I want to be able to drive this car. So does anyone know of very nice bias- sidewall- appearing -redline radial tires? Second, what rim and tire size should I choose, to give it a stock appearance, if I go with 15"? Im thinking 15X7 rims or would 15x6 be better? Third, Does anyone have any good arguments or pictures of a 66 charger with 14" wheels and redline tires that look good and not too "small" so to speak. I'd also like any pictures posted of 66 or 67 chargers that any of you own with a similar tire and rim combination. Thanks!

This is what my car should look like when its restored to my standards. The wheels look just right on this charger, but I cant tell if they are 14 or 15 inch or what tire size they are for that matter. They appear to be bias tires from what I can see, but I want radials with the bias look. By the way, my 66 was silver and its a factory 361 4 speed car with a 3.23 rear end

Is that your standard in the above picture?  If that's the case then wheels/rims should be last on  your thoughts  :icon_smile_big:

I like the look of the 15 inch better but even more so under that big flank the fastbacks carry.  It is also getting very hard to find wheels and tires in 15 let alone 14.  As for a redline radial, I believe Coker Tire offer one but I don't know much about it.

I saw a set of coker classics on a coronet at a car show yesterday and liked them. I've also heard about a company called diamond back tires but ive never seen any of their products in person. I love the look of the firestone wide oval redline tires but they are bias ply and im sure the driveability is scary? anyone have those on a driver car?

They certainly perform differently than a radial.  You do get used to them though.

Would the car be hard to drive or want to skip around on the road with the Firestone bias redlines?

don't  bias ply tyres "track " a lot worse than radials   :scratchchin:

Hopefully someone who has them will chime in here! I'd buy those bias tires if I know they would handle decent and ride nice. . There are a lot of radial redlines out there but I'm not sure which ones are the best "bias" appearing, because that's my ultimate goal

What polywideblock said, they "track".  As far as handling, I think modern radials handle better of course but I also think there is more warning to a bias ply when it gets close to the edge.  :shruggy:

going from memory bias ply  tyres sucked  :yesnod:  I'd take a set of repop radials and get the looks as well as safe handling . :Twocents:

there's a reason that  modern cars don't have bias ply tyres  :scratchchin:
