Extra long wheel studs for spacers

I need to add 1/2" spacers to the rear axle to push my wheels out.  I can find plenty spacers but where do I find longer press in wheel studs?

Check around on spacers first. They make them for Jeep that mount to the stock studs and have studs mounted on them.  :scratchchin:

Nothing at Summit but I did find 3" long studs at Jegs.  Seems real long but I can always cut them.

I love those Jeep spacers but there doesn't seem to be any in 1/2" width.  I'll keep looking for something like that first though.

Any reason to go with a billet spacer over cast aluminum?  I don't see why the latter would not perform just as well as the former.

These guys make spacers and wheel adapter in any size you want: http://www.schippan-shop.de

The site is in German but Google or I can help to translate. Prices are pretty good too: about $110 per pair of adapters!

Thanks!  My German is rusty but I can still manage.  I can't believe these things are TUV approved over there!  You can barely change out a light bulb without going through stacks of red tape.

I just realized 1/2" spacer leaves no thickness for a lug nut for the type in my link.... :brickwall: Your going to have to install longer studs and cut them to fit.  :eek2:

Running into this right now.

Where'd you end up getting spacers and longer studs? Did you do the 1/2" x 3" screw in studs from JEGS and the spacers from the Germans?

Dino

I put that mini project on hold as I had other things going on.  I'm going to revisit it again once I have the rear bakes in order as I might swap the drums for discs.

moroso makes the long stud that is a press in. Mancini sells them also.

I take it I'm better off getting press in than screw in then?

Nice matte '68, looks nice with that cowl and dish rims, great choice.

Mine started life as a 383 2bbl too. Means I get to mod it all I want and won't hurt its value :)

Right, press in.

Make sure you get hub-centric spacers. The lugs aren't designed to center and support the wheels.

I got longer and stronger wheel studs, and the spacer has a flange that looks like it's designed to help tighten up the axle hub to inner wheel hub spacing for a tighter fit.
