Charger no question. You have to keep in mind a good body is much more valuable then a built engine, especially if the body is 1 of 259.
A '68 4 speed 383 charger does not present itself everyday, and it's a much better looking car imo.
Sorry didn't read the whole post to see you bought the chally already. I still vote charger.

Those are some respectable numbers.

I think those are "predictions" numbers based off a computer generated simulation ?
I could be wrong here but....
I can't see loading a 600+ hp engine anywhere even close down to @ 2000 rpm... it would be extremely difficult on the Connecting Rods ?
not to mention...
running it to 11,000 rpm up top ? also somewhat "hard" on internals ?

computer generated means perfect environment for that engine, cool air, all things working in sync, but in reality even on a dyno or on the street very few people put down 500HP to wheels...you can have a 800HP engine only put down 500HP on dyno even after the engine dynode 800HP before putting into car, hey its nice to say, 'my engine SHOULD have 700HP then in reality its only 300HP' lmao...

Im not sure what kind of dyno this is and i also think 10000rpms is a bit rough!
It says flywheel output.

There is another paper also where it listing some figures about cam lift, valve lift, pressure...etc
A mopar man gonna take a look at it tomorrow. He have built many strokers/indys. Looking forward to hear what he think about it

10k rpms he built you a motorcycle engine..... :icon_smile_big:

Tmb84

I found some street legal drag results from 2013. 0-201m-1/8mile= 7,8 sec / 96,5mph
Not bad

It could be metric rpm.  :icon_smile_big:

(still a good number)

Look at the graph.... the simulation runs to 11,000 rpm, NOT 10K,
which IMO,
is not a "little rough"..... but rather would be PUKING Connecting Rods all over the Dyno room floor if it could get there... which it would NOT get "there" anyways, because,
the valve springs would be floating well below.

NOT knocking your Engine... NOT at all....
just sayĆn.....
the Sheet is only a "simulation", in which case, an actual "mph" recorded at the end of a 1/4 mile run at a track is more accurate.

A mopar man have tested it and he liked it. He have built lots of big blocks last 30 years.. He also think the engine got 600 hp.

The most fun is driving at 40mph in 2nd gear and hit the pedal, the 255 cobras just dont have a chance

Found some more info about the engine, bore: 4.280, stroke: 4.400, cyl volume 1037.36cc, volume: 506.4ci
Compression 11.5, using 98 octane gas

That's a nice lookin' stable you have there.

So what are your plans to personalize the Chally?

Tmb84

Thanks. The challenger feels like a race car to drive.. No powersteering, real noisy, and scary to drive..
So i want to make a Transam clone of it. Put some vintage decals on it and a T/A scoop, rear spoiler and maybe black steelies.

NIce.

I like everything about the Trans Am cars except the exhaust.  I understand the reasoning, I just like the looks of how the tips go through the valance.   :2thumbs:

Ghoste

I've gone back and forth on the side exhaust thing over the years.  I find lately I like them again but I totally get what you're saying.

Tmb84

talked to man who built and restored the car. sorry for the english..

the car is a matching number car, engine and gear. repainted in original color, go mango.
383 with 496 stroker kit from 440 source, bored 0,30. needed some cylinder work to clear the rod bolts.
the gearbox is built to last forever.. the rear end is detroit truetrack locker.

the whole car is dipped in acid bath and probably rust free all over.

did some tune up and dyno runs on the Challenger today, first run 577hp 909nm, after some tuning the 383/496 stroker got 616hp 976nm.

Very happy with this, its a torque monster
