1. magnums
2. cragers
3. road wheels.  (not repop'ed in 15 or not well anyway)

I've got magnums 15x8 rear, 15x6 front -  off the  shelf
The 15x6 gives it a great "period look".  They ride and drive great, but then again, I don't own any driving gloves.

Here's what everyone has that wants no problems at stock ride height:

Front- magnum (or ?) 500 15x7 4" BS
235x60x15 tires

Rear-Magnum 500 15x8 4.25" BS
275X60X15 tires

Looks 60s but wide and agressive. Only issue is the 275 60 is 28" tall not 26" like original tire. So  you loose a little "grunt" on the low end.

I have had this combo for 15 years.

I like the magnums and cragers, my car came with American racing wheels that resemble cragers.

My Cragars are the same size as Triple_Green uses on his Magnums. I, also, use a 275X60X15 on the rear but use a B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A on the front that is 225x70x15 to get the same approx. height (27.79") for both front and rear.

The rear tires certainly are not the widest you can mount but these sizes are pain-free with no clearance issues.

Thanks for the response your ride is beautiful,Im going w/275/60/15 rear and 235/70/15 in the front because i had 2 front tires (brand new)left over from another project that i changed my mind...If I have clearance problems the 2 front tires will go back on the future pile lol

tiki

charge69 do you have 7 inch wide on the back and 6 inch wide on the front?

triple_green

the 235 70 15 is almost 2" taller than the 235 60 15. I would have to measure.

Also 0.6" narrower tread width.

My guess is that it would be ok.

triple green post me a snap shot of your ride...

Yep,  my rims are 7" on the front and 8" on the rear.  Standard back spacing (somewhere around 4"). No problems at all with the rims or tires clearing the suspension.  You should have no problems either with your choice.

I cant wait Friday delivery of rims (Magnum 500) Tuesday  275/60/15 Goodrich t/a tires - I just cleaned the raised white letter tires on the other 2.Tomorrow I get the front windshield clips, install them and get the glass guy to install the glass, got the gasket for the windshield today, almost ready to hear the engine through the exhaust for the first time,oh yea put the doors on that would help... :drool5:

I just measured on my own car. The extra 2" of height should be fine. There is lots of room inside the upper fender well. If your ride height is the same as mine, the tire will come close to the bottom of the wheel opening visually.

That black car you posted the picture of may be the best looking second gen I've ever seen!

I have 235/70/15's front and 275/60/15's rear. Measuring from lowest point on rim to top of wheel well 21" front and 21.5" rear.  No clearance issues.

Thanks!  I need to switch out the tires, but other priorities like suspension and brakes come first.

I'm running the chrome magnum's on my car. Got 15 x 8's all the way around with BFG 275 60 15's on the rear and 225 70 15's on the front. I started out with 245 60 15's on the front but it seemed like the car wanted to follow every other groove in the road!! I don't really know why but it didn't drive good at all. I had 225 70 15's on it all the way around when I had it dressed up in the general uniform with the vector's on it and it drove fine that way too so after the 245 60's wanted to wander I just went back to the 225 70's. I did like the look of the 245's on the front but look's ain't everything when it doesn't drive good!!!

I got the front done...
