I have always loved those cars.  As a kid, our neighbor (a policeman) had a purple one and also a green fastback mustang 67 or 68 vintage. so the spots in front of the townhouse had my dad's charger (now mine), the purple superbee, and the green fastback mustang.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Coming from a guy wearing that thing on his head....   :scratchchin:

I just think the '70 SB had an attitude and made a statement with that grill, unlike Shemaros and Wustangs of that time.  But I also think the '68 Charger had the best grill, intimidating for sure!

Who knows if it has a fender tag or was even an original black car with red stripe? I dig it, but for $30k I'd sure want to what was what. It definitely not a numbers car with a 440 in it.

I drove one of these in college (383 4-gear). They are unconventional, but.... the oddness grows on you. I always like looking out over the two scoops and rowing that big pistol grip shifter.  I remember mine very fondly.

Plum crazy & white C-stripes are the only thing that can make a 70 Stupor Bee attractive, but unfortunately, even with that, the car is still like this to me...

At least with that trailer park chick you could shove her face down into the pillow and she would still get the job done... :scratchchin:

There ain't enough pillows on the planet to disguise the ugly of a 1970 Coronet.  :slap:

The styling cues for the 1970 Coronet models is an acquired taste.  My favorite color combo for a 1970 Superbee is yellow exterior, black top, black C-stripe, and black interior.  The black rump stripe comes in a close second.  The first combo that I mentioned just works well for me on that year of Superbee for some reason.  That is why I have one to restore (383, N96, 4-speed, drag pack) salted away.  I could have bought a FM3 version of it that I found, but just could not see me driving that one around....

I bought mine because it was a low-mile, rust-free (SW Wyoming!) big block 4-speed that was relatively affordable at that time (in 1983 I was a lowly GS-4, working for the U.S. Geological Survey in lovely Rock Springs).  After driving it for a while (and rowing that big pistol grip), it sort-of grew on me.  It had originally been a copper/bronze car that had been painted Moulon Rouge by it's original owner.  Can you imagine one of these units in pink? I drove it that way for a year (I was, obviously, a very brave young man). I saved up my nickels and then had it painted another low-impact color, Sublime (with the white Bumblebee stripe). I was fairly pleased with it after that (Pepto Bismal pink was very hard to live with). It was also easily the best running 383 I ever owned.  Lots of "war-stories" with that one.

Manual steering , manual brakes and air conditioning?

Its a nice car. If I could afford another car now I would look for a 69 Superbee B5 440 4spd. But would take it how ever I could get it.

priorities man!
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

Liked my 70 Bee 383 auto, $50.00 car back in the early 80's, but most people did not like it.............. for $50.00 I did not care.

:2thumbs:  I was one of those that didn't like it. --I bought a 69 bee new and when the new 70s came out  it looked all wrong. :shruggy:

It took a long time for me to like the style and I think it was mostly because they called it a superbee.  How could this bee.

The change was a lot and the name was the same. -- It turned me off to a new and different car from my perspective as an owner of one.  I felt the same way about the 1971 introduction of the charger superbee. :shruggy:---Good grief what is up with this?  A charger called a superbee  that was a coronet??

So over time I got over it. It took time to understand the name changes put on cars and I grew to really like the 70 bee's.     I also like the new chargers with all the doors for the same reasons. However I still find it lame for them to use a classic name and dilute the names lasting value as they did.

Do they just think using a name that sold well would be enough to sell more?---Apparently so.

Did those bumpers even do anything in a crash?  :shruggy:
