A" Mad Max" modified 69 Charger is being used as an Uber car in Seattle, yup.

To promote the upcoming Mad Max video game for Xbox/PlayStation, a handful of Mad Max inspired cars are running around Seattle being used as Uber cabs. This is certainly interesting. There's a real Australian Xb Falcon too.

The charger sort of reminds me of the one in Half-Life.

Hah ha. They are filling up at the gas station in front of the immigration building just south of downtown prime. Bringing in some of those Aussies I guess!

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled.

Cool concept. Would love a ride in the Charger or XB.
Sounds like a bit of a lottery though.

The mods on that Charger might actually be all reversible.  The front clip, doors, trunklid . .  it's all bolt-on stuff.  The rear springs could have been done with long shackles & extended leaf eye hangers.  There is a noticeable lack of changes made in the welded-on areas of the unibody.

a friend met the guy who build this charger, sadly it is a real r/t but on the good side everything done to it was just bolt on and could be removed.

Thats cool. It would be neat to learn the story behind this car. I wonder what it looked like before it got mad maxxed. I'm posting every pic I can find of it online.

I have a feeling the owner/builder didn't take off a decent original 2nd-gen Charger front clip & trunklid and just heave it all into the dumpster.  The car will almost certainly go back to stock eventually.

Here we go again...Vampires, Zombies, and now the Mad Max road-rage winners.....I guess I am just not into the "end of the world as we know it" thing  :shruggy: ......But then, each to his own.

I'll take Mad Max over the zombies & vampires any way.

Besides, the new Mad Max movie was really good.  Surprisingly so.  It was well-made and full of real stunts.

The funny part to it all is that all these folks who want a mad max life and/or zombie apocalypse is that they don't drive these cars  more than 10 miles then gets put back in garage.

Can you imagine them driving 100 hundreds of miles and not knowing how to fix their car or have spare parts how do they know it will even last that long on the open road  :icon_smile_big:

Hey everyone. I was poking around the interwebs for old event pics and stumbled across this (admittedly very dead) thread. The Charger in question is mine. I've updated the car a bit since these pics were taken. As someone above predicted, all of the mods are 100% bolt on/off reversible (minus the holes for the new Daytona wing). This car has been a ridiculous amount of fun. I initially built it primarily for messing around at Wasteland Weekend but I've put 100's of miles on it doing all kinds of stuff - including commuting. Hooning it out in the desert is where it really shines though. In the last year it was in a short film, magazine shoots, a music video, and will be in an upcoming feature film. For 2017 I (so far) plan to start my own small film projects and compete in the Gambler 500 off road rally. Long term I intend to restore the car once I'm done playing and finances allow (and after I've built a replacement).

Happy to answer any questions if you have them.

Cheers!
Chris

Real R/T?

Luke

Yes. Though the original 440 and 833 were gone long before I got the car. Well - the transmission could be the original but I'll never know since there's no build sheet. Either way... nothing prestigious about it other than the vin.

Funny story about that film. There were so many problems. We just didn't have enough time. The drone footage came out beautifully but the lead bad guy car was going sooooo sloooooow that they had to speed up footage. They ran out of time to film my fight scene and death so a whole section of the story got cut out. They "fixed it" with the Charger exploding after only a few seconds of chase for no reason. I laughed when I saw it. And it looks all desert-ish but this was central WA in November so it was cold. 12-17 degrees each morning. Overall it was a fun experience to make a super cheesy little film. I'd do it again in a heartbeat... though I'd insist on being the bad guy lead so we can go a bit faster ;)

For the feature film "Scorched Earth" the car went up to BC. I couldn't go with the car... so nervous letting someone else drive it but at least it was a paying gig (and heavily insured). I was on the phone with the stunt coordinator a couple of times asking how it was going. He was like "oh we're just taking it easy - maybe 10-30 miles an hour". I responded with "are you mad? there's a gas pedal for a reason. Get on it. spin the tires. Put on the show for the camera!" No idea what the results will be like. Have to wait till the movie release like everyone else.

Cheers!

I just noticed how much this car looks like the 69 in the video game Half_life.

I can't help but imagine the builder was inspired by it.
