If this is how it looks, then count me out.  It looks like it has an ass end of a Corvette, the windshield of a Viper, the hood of an Acura NSX, and I don't even know about the front end.

That car pictured is the 99 concept car, which was the design study for the Intrepid.  We'll have to wait and see what the next gen looks like.

Wow.  That's the first time I've heard someone NOT like the '99 concept.

Wait a minute.  The article says that the new Charger is "based on the '99 concept car."  I guess my 16 year old wish is finally coming true...

Yeah and the text under the picture, says the car will be based off the concept.

There is nothing about that car, that reminds me of a Charger, aside from the doors.  Perhaps they used the wrong image or something.

Sounds terrible, and built on an alfa romeo chassis? Oh boy....

Id much rather see one built off a smaller, lighter platform engineered from the start to rival 3 series BMWs and Jag equivalents than based from the cheapened ancient Mercedes E class that underpins the LX cars. The current Hellcat weighs what, 4400 lbs? I think they're on the right track.

Here's the Alfa it will be based on. This looks fantastic.

Comment section of article:  " Clark  Griswold called.  He wants to place an order."

Dont worry Mr Dealer, consolidation is no threat to your business.  :D

Sounds like they've squeezed everything they can out of what the Germans left behind.  Should be interesting.

QuoteFCA's big dealer only show is going on in Vegas. Here is what I'm hearing from my pals there. All phones are confiscated so they have to remember what they can and report when they have a break.

Everyone is CRAZY EXCITED about what they were shown. So here we go:

Trackhawk Grand Cherokee was there. Sounded insane. 0-60 in 2.7 seconds, 700hp, starting at $79,999.

New Jeep Grand Wagoneer - competing with the likes of Land Rover, etc. Likely high end SUV, so great.

New Chrysler full size SUV, looked awesome. Durango size-ish, great design..can't wait. Even had stow-and-go

Dart R/T and Dart GLH - and the turbo engine (no details) will be available in all trim levels. Best part? Dart GLH starts below $20k. 1.8 turbo hurricane engine On darts.

New Jeep Compass looks good.

New Dodge ram pics were neat, some of the new packages are nice too. The NEW Power Wagon.. holy ****... awesome looking and was on 37's. 37's won't be on the production version, but it'll have 35's. Looks like the Ram Rebel on steroids.

Even the mini-van looked so much less mini-van ish but still very well designed.

The Dodge 'Cuda looked good, they had one made in a convertible. Not sure that one will see production, but lighter and smaller than Challenger. (7/8 scale)

New Challenger ADR (American Drag Racer) release was crazy with 315's on all 4 corners. Rumors of 1000hp?? The unveiling had it coming out of a cage. Ha!

Challenger T/A was a sweet road course car.. upgraded suspension, no rear seat... blacked out top graphics...

Charger Daytona with a 340 Hemi???

They have an SRT Durango in B5 Blue!!

One of the biggest surprises was the NEW CHARGER. Looks like the 99 concept... but so much better. I can't wait until that hits.

Other notables were the 4500 promaster concept, some Alpha Romeos, which were impressive and Fiats like the 124 Spider and an SUV. Maseratti has some hot cars too.

Biggest surprise at the end though was seeing the new 2017 Wrangler. Not a big departure from the JK, but I'd say it shares nothing with the JK.

If the charger had looked like that, I might have gotten one.  I waited two years for them to build a new charger, and when they did it had none of the queues off of the 68-70.  I did end up buying an intrepid for the wife back then (not a good decision)

Nothing to worry about, that was a past mistake of dodge,  they've sold enough chargers to satisfy themselves,  without the queues I wanted.  Liked the challenger better anyway.

Dodge Barracuda? That's going to be some getting used to

Yeah, there was a teaser image that came out of the 2011 sedan before it's release, of a red 2011, that everyone said "looked like the '99 concept car", but in reality just had a similar indent in the door and the same red color paint.  (and sadly, 4 doors (look closely, the '99 is a 4 door also...))

Supposedly the new sedan is "based on" or "heavily inspired by" the '99 concept car.  Of course, there was also a picture released a few weeks back by Ralph Gilles, of a '68 Charger in the Chrysler design dome...

My personal thought, is that it's not as damaging to say "it's "based on" or "inspired by" the concept car", as it would be to say "it's "based on" or "inspired by" a '68 Charger". (especially if it doesn't look anything like a '68 Charger...)

You'll notice how heavily they've advertised the 2006 to 2015 sedan using imagery of any '66 to '74 Chargers....there is one Charger in the background of one commercial...

Supposedly, the 2015 sedan has several "design cues" from the '69 Charger...I'm still trying to find them...

I think if they built a car with:

1) the front of the 2015 sedan
2) the hood and sides of a '68 to '70 Charger (including the lack of back doors)
3) the back of the 2011 to 2014 sedan

I'd actually buy one.

I think of all the 2006 to 2015 models, the '11 to '14 is probably the closest we will ever get to an actual new Charger.
