Does anyone know if rims off a 2010 ram will fit a car?

Hello,

Any help here is appreciated as is patience if this is a widely known answer. All I am trying to accomplish here is to find some decent wheels so I can move my 71 project car around on. It is a 1971 charger and it currently has some 14" Cragers, 70's in front and 60" in back and they are dry rotted and won't hold air. Since getting new tires make no sense since I will be getting completely different wheels and tires once it is closer to completion, I need something to put on it in the meantime (some rollers that I won't have to worry about overspray/weld-grinding spatter etc). It seems to me that since some dakotas, and ram 1500's use the 5 x 4.5" hole pattern. I believe that the 15" to 17" difference is a moot point since I will only be pushing it around (with no engine or trans so plenty of front wheel clearance), not driving it under power, so no jounce/rebound issues. The only other issue would be backspacing? These are readily found on CR for a reasonable price (steel rims and tires for $150!)

Somebody else must have run into this same situation/tried this by now, right?!? Where I live all the boneyards have dumped all their stock of pre 1990 car parts, so wheels from there are literally non-existent, seems like craigslist is the go to source, but I don't want to buy them and get them home to find out about some situation that prohibits them from fitting.

Not sure about the Dakota, but the 1980 and earlier 5 lug trucks did use the same 4.5 inch pattern as the Big bolt cars

In that case you just have to worry about offset/backspacing...

Some Jeeps and Dodge trucks have the same bolt pattern but the backspacing usually sets the wheels too far out - BUT this is OK in your shop if you've got skinny tires on there. I would only worry about large backspace (5+ inches) because it will run the wheel into the springs and/or control arms. I get tires from the used tire store for about $15 mounted. Try something in the 195 range on a 5-6" wide wheel (and it will be easy to maneuver too).

We're also getting rid of 30+ years of accumulated junk.


Example:

I just gave away a pickup load of old wheels and tires.

All of them were 4.5 bolt pattern.

All of them were old 14 inch dodge and Plymouth wheels.

Most of them still held air and would've been ideal for what you want them for.

The link posted by the OP shows the Ram bolt circle as 5.5"....the B-body is 4.5".

Look for take offs from Jeeps. The Cherokee, YJ Wrangler, most TJ Wranglers and I believe at least the CJ 7 used the same 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern. Also worth mentioning is the Ford Explorer. I know this because the 8.8 rear is practically a direct bolt in swap to replace the turdtastic Dana 35 found under the back of most Jeeps and has the same volt pattern as my stock YJ axles did.
