I saw this 1969 charger 440 R/T on carsonline .com  Asking 36,500 ,,  Sorry I dont know how to put up the link, but does anyone know this car.  Its been for sale for a while. Its in Florida its blue non matching #s originally white. He says it was hit on the pass. side at one time and its been in the family since 1984. It has a 1968 440 in it and a 1971 trans. Cause Im really new to these cars I dont want to make a mistake so Im asking you experts. Ive been sent many pics of the car maybe 25 and I could forward them to anyone that would be interested in helping,,, Is this a good deal??  :popcrn:thanks  :popcrn:

buying a car off a dealer is never a good deal.  they are there to make money off of you.

private dealer isn't?

"Its been for sale for awhile" may be a clue as to its price vs. actual condition.  It looks nice, but photographs do not always tell the tale. Lots of folk have been burned by hidden problems - check it out in person or hire an inspector to do it for you would be my suggestion.

He says its been in the family since 1984, it was his dads car. Its not a dealer. I plan to go to Florida next week to see it in person, I dont trust pictures. Is it priced right, what do you think?

From the pictures, it looks good.   Did you get the fender tag info?   Picture of the VIN and body stamps?   I would get these, check them out, if come back good, then go for a trip.  :Twocents:

Looks pretty nice from the few pictures. Can you post some of the pics they sent you? Maybe create a free Flickr or photobucket account and upload them there and provide a link here...? It's hard to give an opinion from so few pics/info but from watching prices for the past couple years, I have a feeling it is a little high. If it all checks out, offer 30 and settle in the middle.

If they did a restoration in 1998, they should have taken pictures along the way, ask for those pictures.

Good luck!

Pics removed from my account, https://www.flickr.com/photos/pawz4reflection/?

A couple things I noticed:

trunk not body color
door striker is body color and shouldn't be
missing tail light cover in trunk
Power windows, nice!
concerns of rust not properly addressed when restored

Whenever I see things like this I immediately see short cuts being taken and worry what else was not done right.  If the restorer could not even remove the striker during paint, and painted before the trunk pan was installed there are other short cuts than lead me to believe this was a quick cheap restoration.  I would highly suggest a thorough inspection before you buy this.

OK,,,thanks, I am a little worried about the body, he said he did the body work himself, and changed the color to this blue cause it hides things, Im starting to change my mind here :brickwall:

why would a seller say that, crazy! I know you can do better. See my email about this members car, http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,117456.0.html not sure if it's been sold but worth asking, it looks pretty awesome! Crisp body lines, immaculate engine bay, #'s matching RT!!

The blue one looks like it would be okay as a driver and as long as you don't really look at it too hard.

Personally, I think I would be disappointed to see it in person.  It seems like the kind of condition that if I removed one screw from it that it would snowball and I'd be down to bare metal and replacing a lot of panels.

if the blue "R/T" is the same car as the white "R/T" in the flicker account pics, it was originally:

an "A4" silver 383 4bbl SE with black leather & vinyl top (XP29H not a XS29L)

No, the white one is mine. I just posted the blue pics for blinkey. I know my car is a clone and was originally silver but thanks.

Daytona R/T SE

Bottom of the interior part of the doors are the same blue as the extetrior.

Should be the color of the interior.

BIG red flag to me that the painter didn't have a clue what he was doing...

You had better go look at the blue Charger in person if you are serious about it. :2thumbs:

From the pictures, when I see bondo'd over rear valence corner's like that ? IMO, NOT a good sign.

like was been mentioned painted  door lock latch  strikers , never a good sign  , no biggie to put right in its self  , but what else has not been done correctly   , & now seeing this , pop riveted on lower rear valance  ,  :rotz:  don't  do  any favours to , the quality of  rest of the body   :icon_smile_blackeye:

looks like its had rear quarters or just lower rear sections too :scratchchin:

Just my opinion...prior shopping experience:
1) Talk to the seller
2)  Go see the car (if you are going to be nearby anyway)
3) Drive the car
4) Thank the owner kindly and walk away. Just walk away.
5) Go look/drive  5 other Chargers.

Additional personal opinions:
1) it's not worth anywhere near the asking price
2) it's not worth the trouble that is lurking for the next owner.
3) take someone knowledgeable with you that will point out problems. Also, maybe take a Ford or Chevy guy with you to pick the car apart. However, don't succumb to them and buy a Ford or Chevy.

Note: I drove all over north central Texas looking at Mopars for 3 to 4 years before I purchased my Charger...in 1985.
