The letters 'HP' on the engine id plate designates a 'High Performance' engine. What goodies are put in above a standard 440 to make it High performance? Engine is for a '69.

Also wondering if it is common for the upside-down 'A' to appear (20 thou over) on a '69 440 engine.

Struggling to find a set of piston rings for this too
"An aggressive exterior with power to match was enough to pull in the performance boys-especially when abetted by a pair of pipes blaring out the back, and brawny red-sidewall rubber hitting the pavement."

"........the four speed box changes cogs with the precision of a sharp axe striking soft pine."

with,
lighter dizzy spring, crankshafts ground lowside(extra Oil Clearance), "1" letter down Pistons as they came down the side line( "C" in "D" holes etc.), and heads with the shortest Valve tip heights, then "special" paint ie; hemi orange to identify.
Only wimps wear Bowties !
