And who replaces one outer steering rod but not the other?

The car was bought from a classic car dealership which usually means it was overpriced.  Often WAY overpriced.  It had obvious signs of structural trouble that anyone with half an ounce of old car knowledge would see.  The buyer wrecked it hard in the front 22 miles later.

Add it up - this was a reckless moron with too much money.  He probably deserved the hard whack that he got.  That wreck could have easily hurt or killed someone else on the road.

That is a shame that the car was sold with the frame like that. Is there car inspection in Texas? This is how people get hurt. I wonder how this car handled during the test ride.

That would buff right out ,
Didn't any one inspect car properly , from. Damage, looks like it was ditched
Case of buyer not able to drive or experienced with older type car
Yes paint was off on add , if its noticeable in photos which always cars look better
That cross member repair was started and then forgotten from the info finish look of it ,
Shame another one wrecked,
Although I think fixable , with enough time put in to it

HLPAG aren't the only ones out there performing shiny paint "restorations".  But also, if people insisted on properly inspecting the entire car before they bought them.
A passion fueled so we buy with our hearts.

that place out in Sherman is know for pumping out shit box cars. they use to be called Harwell Motor Company. but changed the name to escape issues:

Complaint
Truck misrepresented and sold in an unsafe condition
I purchased a 1978 Custom deluxe from this dealer in 2010 when it was Harwell Motirs. I was in Iraq and saw it online. it looked great. Pictures show a shiny red truck with a beautifully detailed engine. I called the dealership and spoke with them about any needed work. They said it was in prime condition. My wife generously drove from Nebraska to the showroom in Texas and picked up the truck and hauled it back to Omaha on a trailer. GOOD thing. They told her she could drive it back if she wanted to.
It had no rear view mirror, lap seat belts and the rear brake cable split the first time the brakes were applied at the service station. Can you say lawsuit? She would have had no brakes and no seatbelts... I have replaced the fuel pump, had the carb rebuilt, installed seat belts, a rear view mirror, all new brake lines, and valve cover gaskets. The rear axle had to be replaced because water had leaked in past the seals (dried out completely) and rusted the guts of the axle. Replaced the differential for the same reason. This is a 4x4 so I had to do the same for the front end as well.
The "ice cold A/C" didn't work and it cost me hundreds of dollars to get it the compressor replaced. The one in the truck blew and sprayed the entire engine compartment with fluid.
Next item is the paint job. I have to believe that it was a quick, cheap one. It faded and clouded in less than a year. The truck looks terrible and I wish I had never purchased it.
At this time I have to have the body painted at a cost of 2500 for a decent job. The tires go flat on occasion because they have a hard time keeping a seal on the pitted rims (again, a cosmetic cover-up) so I need to get rims too.
Long story short... it cost me over 5000 dollars to make this truck road worthy.
Please take any auto purchased by this dealer to a private service center and have it evaluated. DO NOT BUY without a thorough examination. All the numbers on this truck do match and it has only 46K original miles verified on the title but that does not make it a good buy.

Desired Settlement
would love to have them provide a quality paint job, refund the cost of the brake repairs, ac compressor replacement anf repair and axle replacement.

Business Response
Classic Car Liquidators is not the business Harwell Motors. We bought the property that Harwell rented after they went out of business in 2011.

i could go on, just start to google and you will see.
one more:

Be careful when you buy - They are not scam artists and that is for certian.  What they are (John and Mike)  are shrewd businessmen in a commodities business.  They have zero remorse taking your money and putting you into a pile not worthy of the road if you are gullible enough to be the buyer.  They move hundreds of cars a year and value the customer experience very little.

essentially, they buy worthless cars, many of them in need of significant repair.  detail it and detail under the hood and attempt to pass it off as a viable car.  They disclaim that "classics are classics" and that you never know what you're getting into.  in my opinion this is a borderline unethical business practice.

It is a volume factory with the intent to get cars in the hands of customers at any cost.  Do your research, be diligent, be careful and if you still think its the vehicle for you, they will be quick to transact.  If you don't do your homework, don't expect them to take care of you - if you have money, they will take it without hesitation.  Should they feel sorry if you're too inexperienced to get the deal or car you want ?  I have bought a car from them, and I'm prepared to drive it in the lake before I would recommend them to a buyer.  They sound like scam artists to alot of people, but it turns our they are just trying to run a business the way they know how.  The rest is your problem as a buyer.

Go there and inspect for yourself,  they will be reluctant for you to even test drive anything because the cars photo well in their booth, but no care has been taken to ensure safety and drivability for what they are putting on the road.  Check BBB, check Old time rides;  many people have had crap experiences and wrote about it.  That should be a major warning sign.  Because of the simply atrocious service and selfishness John's days for running this business are number and he should know it.

im not trying to hurt this place, just trying to help others

Not fixable, but a great parts car now. Look at that roof line. The car wasn't safe to begin with. :o

Hopefully no one was hurt.  :yesnod:

myk

The sellers are scum, but it really is up to the buyer to know what they are getting I to.  Do I blame the seller of my car as touting it as an RT/SE when it's really a 383 2V car?  No, that was my responsibility to know how to identify these machines.

I wonder if the car in the original post just came apart on its own under hard driving?

Someone paid more for that rust bucket unsafe POS perfume on a pig then my solid rustrfree car. Idiots.  :brickwall: LEON.
