That's a c3 Corvette rearend, and yes it's possible. You can see the slick that contributed to the cause.

Just about every car that has half-shafts will generate an aftermarket HD replacement shortly after its introduction.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I have seen this happen on a highway tractor, twisted right around and the u joints held.

PTO on tractors too!

Especially if the tractor is bigger then what the PTO device is rated for!    :icon_smile_big:

So true.

Too bad the factory won't offer optionally stronger half-shafts.  Getting it installed at the factory would be cheaper than going straight to the aftermarket and having it retrofitted.  The factory could just make an exemption in their warranty coverage or something.

Anywhay, if you hang these on the wall of your shop, it gives you some serious bragging rights.

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

Somehow i dont think its the factory's fault here. Those slicks are not stock and i would bet a paycheck the fest of the car isnt either.

My thoughts are that the factories do calculations on clutch size, half shaft ratings, tire grip and engine power to arrive at their combinations. In the 1993-2002 Camaro, they had a 350 HP small block with an 8" axle ring gear. They must have figured that the 245 series tires would spin before the diff sees much stress.
The same applies to even my car. I am running a 295 series Nitto, yet my 8 3/4 axle sees little stress because the tires break loose long before the axle could groan in protest.
