Not sure if you guys seen this one yet or not....

Old Moparz

I have a pair of photos of a Daytona the same color & also a wreck. I'll scan them at home later & add them to the thread tonight. I took the pics at The Mopar Atlantic Nationals in NJ maybe 5 to 8 years ago, maybe a NJ member knows? The story on the pics I have is that the car was rolled in the 1970's, but I don't know since I never talked to the owner. There wasn't much left on it since it was picked clean, & whatever panel was left was damaged.

From the primer on the doors it looks like he was on his way to the body shop! :icon_smile_big:  Maybe late 70's then? :shruggy:

It looks like an attempt was made to fix the car.

Looks like he didn't get far before he kind of wrecked it. ;D

Mopar Or No Car!!!!!!!!

Old Moparz

Well, I found them & it looks like the same car to me. The 2 pics I scanned are dated July 2000 on the back, which seems right to me as for when I took them. I don't know how old the original pic is that was posted, but it definitely sat a long time.

I think Dave knows the car, he's from southern NJ. (Was Wingcars69/70 on here.)

Almost forgot, I don't have pics of the top, but the roof was buckled pretty badly. Definitly needed an entire car as a patch panel, so that makes it a good candidate for an illegal VIN tag swap, also known as a "rebody".   ::)

Judging just from the pics, I could repair that car without a rebody. It doesn't appear to be hurt all that bad, but it could possibly be worse than the pics show. I have the frame machine from hell.

looks repairable in the photos to me  but as (hotrod98) said "it could possibly be worse than the pics show" i would defiantly buy it and fix it,if the seller was  asking  a  sensable  price

Yep, that's the same car.  A guy named Tom from Long island NY owned it when it was at Nats and Englishtown recently.  It was one of 5 Galen was selling probably about 10 years ago. Some of the 5 were David Patik's like the Blue on blue one that made it's way up to Canada, and is now nicely restored

69_500

I was going to say I thought it was one of Dave Patiks car that Galen was advertising. I wasn't aware any of t hem were actually Galens. I thought all 5 of them were Dave's.

BigBlockSam

thats a great project! give me that, at a good price and i'll bring that back. without a rebody too. yummy.  :drool5:

That is the F6 car that Tom from long island owns. He is planning a resto for it,and is gathering parts for the resto. He got the car from Galen. This is the car in the flood photo, shown on its roof, from 1973.Tom says he is going to repair the original body, and even though there is serious damage to the A pillars, and the roof, rebodying is not even being considered. I believe that this car will have to go on a jig,or a frame machine to do the repair correctly.

BigBlockSam

is this the car your talking about

Yep;thats the car! If you look at the photo at the begining of this thread, and the photo from Englishtown, you can see the same damage to the drivers side roof, and A pillar. It looks more severe in person! Its the flood car pictured on its roof in the newspaper photo!

intresting stuff. it just goes to show its a small world when aero cars are involved.

terrible one

Sad, but pretty cool. So the car was having bodywork done and was "wrecked" by the flood then?

chargervert

What amazes me about this car,is that it still exists at all, most cars no matter what they were, that got wrecked like that early in there lives, would have been written off as a loss by an insurance company, and scrapped! My guess,is that the car probably wasn't insured at the time of the loss, whick must have sucked bigtime for the owner, but is also why it still exists today!
