Apples to apples or no?

I have a random question here.... If you had a 68,69,&70 charger, and they were all identical condition/options, are they all worth the same amount? I have two 1970 charger projects that I'd like to sell/trade for a 69. Seems like the 69's are going for more than the 70's here lately. I don't wanna do a 70 to 69 conversion on my car cause that's a lot of stuff to change out.... And I know someone out there would rather have a 70 model anyway. Just looking for some opinions here...

My opinion and nothing else, is that the 69's and 70's are pretty much on the same level just because of how famous they both are, i see alot of people looking for 70's specifically because of the fast and furious series

This is the old what's it worth question. These three cars share (IMO) the classic and enduring lines that speak Charger the loudest.
If one had three boys, one after the other which one would you pick as being the best?---This is probably not a fair analogy.

I sense that this question is about market value vs personal value. NO??

If one is in this hobby for the potential profit (all things being equal) I would guess that the 68 and 69 have a slight lead in value. Also I would add (this is all my personal view). The difference between all three is so slight as to make this conversation mute.

The hypothetical situation that you propose is just that.  The real world is that a buyer will never find those choices to ponder.

So you are asking for financial advice to make a decision about which projects to lose the least money on?

The answer IMO is to make a car that you like. If you want to make money your job or practical investments is where the money is.

That's why I have 5 doors, now if I could just dump the wife's 64 'vette.... those doors would all be full with mopars. I like the '68 the most if it matters..

I would say no, the value is not the same for all three yrs although pretty close. There is more people right now searching for 68 and 69's then 1970 chargers it seems.
This is reflected in the selling price and how quickly a car finds a buyer. When I sold my 69 project a couple years back I did feel that just the fact of being a legit 1969 charger did give it added attention from potential buyers, even with it being in pretty poor condition. If I was selling a 1970 would it be the same deal? I'm not sure.

I think the 70 model would have a small edge over the 69 as there was less of them to begin with which makes them more unique
69 are alot easier to source more reproduction parts for than the 70

My two 70's are more project than I have time for. I was thinking out loud about trading them both for a solid 69. Just curious if that's thinking realisticly... I've always wanted a 69. But to do the conversion correctly, the dash, steering column, seats, and front clip has to be swapped out. That's alot of coin cause I don't know of anyone close to home that has used parts from a 69 charger. That's like 4,000ish worth of parts brand new...

I'll keep you in mind. I'm going through the lovely process of getting titles for them right now.

If it was not for the grief of coming across the boarder I would swap you the parts from my 69 as I want to make it into a Daytona clone

If you are changing the steering column some of the wiring is different in the dash harness also as the 4 way flasher switch moves to the column to the dash

But in the end you still have a 70 car with a 69 front end and that little voice in the back of your head will keep telling you to look for a 69 car

  yes should all be worth the same !!  but , there are more fans  for a certain year !! especially if its orange !! & some sellers wack the price up

That's why I don't really wanna do a conversion... I know that little voice will be there

My opinion on this, is they rate this way in order of highest to lowest value:

1. 69
2. 70
3. 68

Again, all things being equal.

It still boils down to condition of what you find

Of the 3 years it is not like one year is worth twice as much as the other so you will wait to get that one
The 70 might cost more to get restored as they do not reproduce as many parts for it

When was the last time anyone found a 1968 and a 1969 and a 1970 R/T Charger in a barn all in the same shape and ran and could only buy one of them and had to choose ?
