Any other Inland Shifter guys in here besides me?

Both my 66 Chargers are factory 4spd cars with Inland shifters....both have the consoles, well, one still has it's console, the black 66 I changed over to 67 interior with a buddy seat. So I found a factory Inland shifter handle for a non-console car and put it in one of my Chargers. (first pic below)

So I also came across this other console style shifter which I think may be for an early 68 model year. Note second and third pics below....the shorter handle is from my 66 console car, the other longer handle has an extra bend towards the top. Can anyone confirm this? I was thinking of putting this in the other 66 Charger that still retains it's console just to see how it would look.....

I have an Inland in one of my 68s. The shifter is out right now but I don't know if I have a pic handy.

Edit: never mind, I don't have a console!

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

so yours must look like the one in my first picture that's in my car? Basically it's straight?

Dans 68

My shift handle looks like the first one (the "shorter" one) in your pics. I actually have one of Brewers Hurst shifters under it.  ;)

I  have only seen one other of the  longer handle with the extra bend in it...belongs to "bull" here on the forum

I'm gonna try tomorrow and put the longer one in my cream charger with the  console and see how it looks and works

Bryan, I'm thinking it's for an older car.  I had a Hurst handle that looked similar and I think it was for a '64.  It might be for one of the four speed C body cars.  Post up when you get it in the Charger.

Yeah, mine is fairly straight.

Put the "extra bent" shifter handle in the cream car....it's defiantly taller....will take it out tomorrow and see how it feels.....

A383Wing

Stay tuned Lee, I'll take it out for a test drive tomorrow and let ya know how it feels...would still like to know exactly what this came out of....."Bull" has not chimed in yet, he has one on his Charger....

I never thought of the "C" body cars having this style shifter with the extra bend, but I suppose it's possible

I would love to buy the shorter inland shifter for my 68, pm me if for sale

Pretty cool thread.

You guys do realize that in the link to the old thread that Dana 68 posted, there is a "double bend" handle in that thread....looks like a 68 Charger?

500" NA, Eddy head, pump gas, exhaust manifold with 2 1/2 exhaust with tailpipes
4150 lbs with driver, 3.23 gear, stock converter
11.68 @ 120.2 mph

Hey Lee, got to drive the Charger today with the longer shifter...it's actually pretty nice to drive, I don't have to reach as far with this one....not too bad at all.....it is longer, which does make the shifts longer by a bit as well...nothing that I can complain about though.....I'll leave it for a while and see how it goes....

ITSA426

Nice!  I would think it a little sloppier than the normal Inland "guess a gear" setup, but I do like the look of it.  If I could find one, I'd use it.

Pat, the "shorter" handle is the original one to the car, I really don't plan on getting rid of it, this is a 160,000 mile original car except for the interior....sorry

Bryan,
I would keep it with the car also!
Thanks

from a 68 Charger on ebay, note extra bend in shifter handle....also, it will not allow my center console lid to open while in 4th gear...handle is too long
