I hope this isn't going to be like the Tom Hoover rumors when he was close to passing but I'm told Buddy Baker has passed away.

He had been ill since late last year.    It just had not been announced to the public.

Buddy was and will always be a class act. He will be dearly missed. He typifies an age of speed and daring, of skill and a willingness to cheat death. His passing, while sad, is only the end of a magnificent life. Thank you Buddy Baker, you've inspired many and you will be fondly remembered. Always...

So sorry to hear this news.  Thoughts and prayers to his family and a huge thank-you for so many years of being someone you could be proud to be a fan of. :'(

This kind of thing probably doesn't happen today when drivers and crews are bored.

there must be a version of that video  out there somewhere with out  him talking  , may be Chrysler historical has it somewhere  ,  its sure important enough I would of thought , maybe a  Chrysler employee at the time  or track owner shot some footage for personal consumption  :scratchchin:

There is.   1988 RJ Reynolds did a Winston Cup Nascar history video, 1.5 hrs. long.  About 15 minutes into it, there is the Nascar version of the 200 run!  It's about 1.5 minutes. Pretty cool.

Thanks for the link.  Begins about 16:35,... and as any doc,  narration is part of it.

Still would be nice to hear the run with the voice track removed.  Just the car and its roar.

rrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRR.....WOP.....RRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
