Which shifter for my 727 ??

I want to add a aftermarket shifter when I put in my newly built 727.  Maybe ratchet,     def want reverse lockout.   I need advise on which setup works the best.   Thanks!

Are you running a console?

I'm running a B&M Quicksilver shifter, works and looks great but sometimes I wish I didn't go with a ratchet shifter.

I'm thinking of replacing mine with a Winters Sidewinder shifter or the Turbo Action Cheetah SCS unit. I've always liked the look of both of these but I don't think either would fit with my console setup. If I was ever in the market it for new shifter it would definitely be one of these.

Wow,  Thanks.   I had never heard of the sidewinder shifter and it might be my favorite.

I actually don't have a console as my car has the buddy seat.  I am considering building me a custom console to house the shifter, cup holders, and a lot of misc. junk.

Yup. My car was originally a column shift with a buddy seat when I got it. Swapped to the floor shifter and made new mounting brackets that used the existing buddy seat brackets to mount the console with the new shifter setup. Not a perfect match with the gear indicator lens but it's pretty damn close.

That's the way to do it.    Custom console with everything you need. Cup holders are the only thing I'm missing on mine.

Luke,  are you running a Hurst handle on your B&M shifter?    If so I like your style!!

I have a Winter's shifter in my console's glove box, it was installed around 1979, puts it in comfortable reach for shifting.
I quickly replaced the shifter knob, it just did not feel right, and looked like a dick sticking up there.

i converted the stock shifter to use a cable & then modified the shifter plate so it works like a slap stick.



it dont look pretty lol  but you cant see it & it works great.

I have the Turbo Action Cheeta and love it.  The cable attaches to the tranny from the rear, keeping it away from the hot headers.  I used to have the Mega Shifter and always had issues with burning the cable....

I've got a Sidewinder installed between the seats on my 70. (No console.) I used a longer shift cable and found you really need to keep factory kick down linkage. Gated so well I'm removing the lockout and going standard.

I ended up with the Winters Sidewinder shifter and I'm glad that I settled on it.  It seems very well made.

Bullet proof, I'm removing the lockout by swapping out parts. The lockout is overkill for a car not raced IMO.
