I usually end up with 1-3 spam emails a day in my junk folder, but within the last three days I've been 20-30 a day and all of them with 75-76k attachments.

Of course I'm not opening the attachments, but I'm wondering if this is maybe the result of a new virus/worm going around.

Anyone here getting the same thing?

Norton had a popup on my computer a while back saying there is a virus outbreak (that they didn't name) and that I need to update my virus software immediately, which I did. They've done that before when there's been some big ones circulating so I always obey Norton and things work out fine.

I had a popup last night and had to update on my Nortons.

The email also comes as saying that you have a "returned" email that couldn't be sent. Of course you never sent any email... and the "email" that was sent is an attachment of a .zip file. I never download any .zip files from any people unless I know they are going to send me one first.

I'ev gotten about 20 of them in the past couple days and it's sorta getting annoying. Here's what mine all say:

QuoteThis is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

SMTP_Error []
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

The full mail-text and header is attached!

Of course the mail-TEXT that is attached is not a .txt fil but a .zip file. The email is the WORM_SOBER.AG virus. As of yet there is no cure.

Thanks, Dragon.

Yeah, I don't open any attachments unless I know the sender anymore.

Hell, even stuff friends send me I try and verify it.

Yeah, never been bothered by any of the viruses/worms out lately, but I've been bombarded by this one.

Upgraded the firewall and anti-virus programs and it seems to be helping.

It was getting pretty ridiculous.

I dont have any vuiruis protection on my main computer, so I make a policy of only downloading things from people I know or sources I trust.
You have also gotta be careful with popups, especially ones that tell you to download stuff, which is why I usually run 3 popup blockers.
Yahoo, which blocks everything, including links I click on (eg ebay)
Google, which does a marvelous job and blocks bad popups
and MSN which blocks only a few, but is still useful.
