1969 Charger Blower Motor Wiring

I have a question about the blower motor wiring on my '69 non-a/c Charger.  I just finished installing new foam on the heater doors and replaced the heater core and blower motor.  The blower motor obviously wasn't the original one as the wire ends weren't factory ends and it had one orange wire and one black wire.  The factory wiring diagram shows a dark green wiring coming from the blower motor to the resistor.  Mine had the black wire running to the resistor and the orange one to ground.  I wired the new motor the same way, they both spun in the same direction, moving a moderately good amount of air.  But just out of curiosity, I reversed the wiring, allowing the motor to spin in the opposite direction, and HOLY COW...what a difference.....there is a HUGE difference in the amount of air being moved.  So, was the other motor wired incorrectly, or by reversing the rotation, am I moving air through the box in the wrong direction?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  the color coding  rebuilt & or repoped , Four seasons , blower motor for a non ac  69 -B-body heaterbox  ,  is as follows

orange =  + positive  / power 12 volt
black =     - negative / ground

Thanks for the response, Tan Top.  The brand is Factory Air by 4 Seasons and yes it was made in Canada.  Using orange as positive does move the most air but that's not how the old motor was wired.  I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't overlooking something.  Thanks again.
