1969 Dodge Charger 383 PCV grommet size

Hey Guys,

  I recently purchased this grommet http://www.classicindustries.com/product/mopar/b-body-charger/parts/t4998.html to install in my factory valve cover, but it seems the O/D is too large.  I measured the diameter hole in the cover and it's exactly 1 inch, I feel like this grommet is too large to force in.

  Does this size sound correct, is the fit really that tight?  Or should I find a different manufacturer/size?

Where are they getting the 1 & 1/4" OD measurement at?
Can you measure the diameter at the groove? If it's 1" then it should fit and yes, they are kinda tough to put in because the flange is wider than the hole.
