Who is planning to attend the Mopar Nats this year.  I have been every year since 1984 and not sure if I will make it this year, but hope to at least one day.  Been on the decline the last several years, but still fun.

It seems there is a lack of interest in the Nats. Why is that?
Malicious, vindictive, spiteful, cynical, pessimistic, sarcastic, & antagonistic. And those are my good traits!

I went every year from '93 to '04.

Skipped '05.

Went back in '06.

Never again.

AKcharger

I went in '04 was nice only because we were in the "car corral" since it was year of the '70 charger...otherwise it is a disorganized mud pit. After Carlisle, you realize what a national event is supposed to be like...Drag racing was nice though...

Ghoste

I've been going since the first one so I guess I still have interest in it.  :icon_smile_big:

National trails raceway is a dump.

Where the cars are parked, the ground is all Rutted up, might as well park in a plowed field.

Enjoy a twisted ankle ? Come to National trails.

They don't have enough restrooms.

So they bring in those shitters in a trailer.

I've never seen shit mounded up above the seat -in all the stalls- before in my life.

Some real fecal acrobats there in Ohio.

And...

Urine actually running out the door as you step in.

Idiots on golf carts everywhere.

Normally golf carts don't bother me.

There just seems to be a MUCH higher percentage of IDIOTS on golf carts there.

Drunks in the hotel parking lots at night.

Stumbling around between the cars.

Leaving beer cans on the fenders/hoods/roofs of cars.

Urinating between the cars.

One year, I had a family of inbreds CAMPING in the grass next to the parking lot of the hotel I paid money to stay at.

Of course they had their little darling children playing with a Frisbee and tossing a baseball back and forth, just a few feet from the hotel parking lot where all the cars were parked.

Their stinky grill burning 24/7 was a nice touch, too.

Cruising ?

Yeah, right.

Last time I was on Brice road it was a parking lot.

Way too many negatives and far too few positives.

I enjoyed the show a lot more when it was in Indy. :Twocents:

DC_1

I'm not going this year and I didn't go last year either..

It's never been as organized as Carlisle but in the last few years it seems to have gotten worse.

I like drag racing but that isn't the primary reason i go to a car show. First and for most for me is to see the cars. I find the drag racing at Columbus to hinder that as the show cars are scattered all over the place and the track splits the show field up.

My other beef is the golf carts, scooters, 4wheelers and dirt bikes that are a pain in the ASS!

And what I miss most is the cruising down Brice road that no longer happens. The cruise in Heath is just a bunch of 18 yearr olds doing burn-outs in their diesel pickups.

Not worth the 6 hour drive for me anymore.......and I've gone to them since 2002 or so.

Been working the MA booth for a bunch of years...  taking this year off.    Never really got to enjoy the show.

Its been a while since I have been to the Nats, I probably won't ever go again (Its about a 9-10 hr. trip for me, and really isn't worth it). I do want to go to Carlisle one of these years, just to check it out because I've never been. About got to the point, I don't really care for all Mopar events anymore... I went to the Tennessee Valley Mopar Show last month (used to go every year), it was shit. To many Experts (in there own mind), swap meets full of junk/scrap iron with gold/diamond prices, and a lot (not all, but a lot) of Mopar guys now are as bad as 'Corvette' guy. I just a soon go to a local cruise-in, usually pretty cool  guys that build their cars, lots of interesting rides.

I think the best Mopar shows are Spring Fling and Fall Fling in LA followed by Garlits in Ocala.

Extended forecast show Sat and Sun perfect. Mid 70s and no rain but partly cloudy.

Not me, I'm not a car guy.  Have fun fellas and try not to get hit by the golf carts!   :2thumbs:
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Daytona R/T SE

The other day, I noticed that a huge portion of interstate 70 through Illinois, is a parking lot.  :Twocents:

Old Moparz

I'm not going, but would if time was available to me. I've been to the Nationals 3 times with the first being in 1985. Back then it was in Michigan at Milan Dragway / Raceway & at the Chrysler Proving Grounds. It was the first big, Mopar only event I had ever been to & was blown away at the number of cars in attendance. (Especially 2 full rows of wing cars totaling about 75 or so. I went again in 1988 when it was in Ohio, which was also a great show.

I didn't get to go back until 2003, but by then the show had lost a lot of it's quality. It was disorganized, chaotic & the golf cart a-holes were everywhere making it dangerous for anyone with young kids. My daughter was only 4 at the time & when she wanted to get out of the carriage I had to watch & worry she'd get run over by some drunken dumbass pretending to be Richard Petty in a cart. I'd go back but I'd bring a golf club to fend off these morons.

I didn't say they were all necessarily locals. :Twocents:

Personally I thought there were fewer golf carts the last couple of years.

69charger2002

I'll be there. I enjoyed Carlisle much better when I went for the first time last summer, but Ohio was still fun(14 hour drive one way by the way). We have nothing like either of these shows in the south. So even National Trails is super cool for us southern folk. We'll be there Fri-Sun
i live in CHARGERLAND.. visitors welcome. 166 total, 7 still around

Nope. I've only ever entered a car once - and that was only because I got to park on the club side where someone was saving me a spot and it isn't as dusty as the rest of the place. (Although, with all the rain this year the grass is probably still green!) I usually just go to buy big parts that I don't want to ship so I drive the truck. I live close enough to drive a different car each day if I want. Unfortunately, this year I have plans Friday and Sunday so Saturday is my only option.

" Golf carts will be limited in usage to operators of age 18 or over ONLY!!! They will also be limited in areas of access. Due to the high level of complaints we received, this will be strictly enforced."

From Nats website. Hopefully it's true.

Not me. Too much of a pain. Too many people & of course the golf cart situation & I own one but I don't take it. When I have my cart at the local tracks I give all of the people the right of way since they are walking & I am lazily sitting in my seat....

Mega-Dittos.  Sick of dodging them  heard some one had their car backed into by a kid on a golf cart in the fun field.

X2  :iagree:

Just like the NATS, MATS is golf cart galore but worse because its an asphalt surface instead off grass, dirt and mud. But NATS is way bigger by population, imagine if they had a smooth surface for the golf carts.

F8-4life

I saw a overweight guy getting towed on a single seat contraption behind a golf cart through the car corral.
I just had to laugh.
As far as the show, parts prices seemed high. Project cars seemed high, did anyone catch the 69 rt project in the swap meet for 28500?
It looked like it was pulled from a barn and maybe a 12k-14k project.
This was also in the car corral   http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/5163497788.html

Ghoste

It did seem like the golf cart issue was lessened to me.

69rtse4spd

Was over on Friday with my buddy & his wife, less people but still too many golf carts. Some of the cart drivers do act like you should bow before them as they pass. Or if it was wet throw yourself into the mud hole so they don't get mud on the tires. Will I go back next year, who knows, but you do get to spend time with friends, see some nice cars & get away from the wife for the day.
