I uninstalled McAfee

The desktop PC would slow to the point of being just frustrating to use. Finally figured out it was McAfee doing it's scanning or udating or whatever. That ticked me off for the last time and I uninstalled it. That PC is lightening fast now, or at least to me its fast.

I have Advanced System Care 8, Spyware Blaster, and C Cleaner on it along with the windows fire wall. I hope that is enough to protect it.

McAfee was free with Cox cable. But I really dont want to go back to it. Just slowed the machine down way to much.

Just say no to anti-virus software of any kind, I always say.  As long as you don't download anything you shouldn't, your machine will be fine.

Well let me adjust that statement; I do have anti-virus software with AVG, but it's passive, in that it doesn't take action until I tell it to do so.  This keeps it from being a resource hog...

I've just recently added McAfee after being without it for about a year. I find everything to work just as fast as without it. :shruggy:

So far No problems with the PC. When this machine was brand new I installed McAffee on it right away. Just installing McAfee slowed the machine down. Is McAfee known to do that?

installed  mcafee earlier this year ,  was good first  , but  really slows down the computer now from time to time  :scratchchin: ,  only switched because Norton  had changed stuff ,   & the computer tech guy where I bought the computer recommended it  , this year ,  never had a problem with Norton , till a month or so before ,  I was due to re new subscription , would  mysteriously  act up every year  :rotz:

McAfee is the worst when it comes to updating its virus/adware/malwware database.

I'd go with Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes.  AVG is good too.

AVG is  really nice, no complaints and no issues on my pc, laptop, and android tablet.
