I'm back with my new B5 6sp Hellcat. :2thumbs:

That grin that many have talked about is real. :yesnod: -- I've been driving my car for three days and have a permagrin.

So my trip started out on thu. the 13th with a one way flight to pick up the car and I am now back home with 2300 miles on the hellcat.

My adventure is full of many things as one might expect and I could ramble on with it.---(and may do so )  but first things first.

My overall impression of the car is --it is a step up from my 09 srt 6sp about the same magnitude as would be a step up from a base model 6cyl challenger to an SRT8.  I did expect less of a difference but with all the new added extras (aside the POWER) this car has much to enjoy.

Their are a lot of hellcat owners out their that have spoken about the car and I see  no need to repeat the same --good--stuff. :icon_smile_wink:

The man. trans. is something that was a no brainer for me cause I like to play with muscle cars. If this car had an auto trans. I would not have as sore a face as I have from the grinning I've done.---I pulled over at almost every rest stop just so I could row through the gears to get back on the interstate. --The sound, the feel of a spun up flywheel at rpm, the whine of the supercharger, and the need to hit the brakes hard to merge with 80mph traffic are all grin causing stuff. An auto trans would give fun but not real fun. :nana:

So I am now home with a used hellcat that has a few free loading bugs on the front and who knows what is stuck in the supercharger intake. :shruggy:

I look forward to cleaning it up to look like it did last Friday when it had 13 miles on it.   :icon_smile_wink:

Reflecting on the drive I had to bring this car home.---I could have had the car shipped and broken it in over days or weeks at home in local traffic.  (BTW their is a breaking in period of the driver that should not be minimized). Or gone on a few trips just for the fun of the car. What I went through the last three days on the road, across beautiful country with a super, classic muscle car is something that I am so glad I did.

Soon I will post (If I can) a couple of pictures. My phone is not so smart by todays standards so I will have to learn how to get pics. from my camera through the gauntlet ---to my computer and past the size and re name issues.

Right on!  I think that's probably the best way to bring a new car home, especially THAT one.

I almost did the same thing back when I found out they were gonna quit making the 4 door SRT10 truck.

Years prior, my wife & I drove back from DFW in a new Ram in '99 so I could stop in Kansas & pick up my Harley.  We had just left & about 60 miles out of the city a bad storm moved in & all I could think about was hail.

Thanks WS for sharing.    :2thumbs:
Now all we need is some pictures.   :drool5:
I know it's not a huge concern but, what kinda mileage did you get?   :shruggy:
Anyway, glad it all worked out and looking forwards to seeing some great pictures.

I made a 785 mile round trip this wknd and got 22.8 Mpg with a 6spd , made 3 runs down a 3/4 mile runway with timed 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile top speeds and the mileage dropped to 5.3mpg after the third pass LOL

ws23rt

My avg. for my whole trip was 19.9 mpg.   On level ground at 70 mph it's 22mpg in either 5th or 6th gear.

Great to meet you as well Marc  love your 68!!!  I will be sure to let you know when I'm headed up you're way. Just bought a spare set of OE tires so now I can play for the next month or so hopefully before the nasty weather comes. 8200kms so far or 5000miles and tires have more than half tread wear left! But I imagine they will be toast by the end of the season LOL :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

In my earlier post I said my MPG for 2300 miles on interstate freeways was 19.9 mpg.  That info was from the onboard system and apparently what I was looking at was a current avg. for the tank of gas I was using. It was not the overall trip avg. :shruggy:

I kept a notes from my gas stops and used 116.14 gallons for 2064 miles.  (stopped tracking after those notes).  So that works out to 17.77 mpg.  I believe this is a realistic number for anyone traveling long distance in a hellcat.---the temptation to make the supercharger whine is to great to resist.

Also the gas price was $364.17 for the same period.  So that works out to about 5.67 miles per dollar. :D----and worth every penny for what you get in a great driving experience.   BTW I like my new car

:2thumbs: I do agree it is a great way to get into a new car especially one that is more than just a purchase for transport.

I too was near to buying a srt10 truck when they came out.  What stopped me fast was a 10k markup. It was my first experience with "markup".  I saw the second window sticker on the truck that said "market adjustment"???  I asked the salesman what that meant. He said --frankly-- it meant it is something we think we can get because the truck is so cool.

Do you remember what the MSRP was?

I do not :shruggy:---It was when they first came out with the viper engine in the truck.

ws23rt

I forgot to mention stuff about my buying experience with the dealer.  The salesman was a great and easygoing sort that wanted to listen more that talk. :2thumbs:  His name is Nick and the dealer is Brickner's of Wausau.  They sold four hellcat challengers (mine is one) and all were for msrp.  He said they don't markup for anything they sell.
They expect to get allocations for the 2016 models and will not push you around.
It is very unlike me to vouch for someone but I feel at ease with these folks.

Well the dealer quoted us the wrong base price for the 2016 models,  :slap: it is $62,495 not $72,000  :eek2: like they told us, they blamed it on the system crashing, so with that said our order was submitted yesterday bringing the total with options to $69,775

I'm still trying to solve my pic. posting issues. :P----

It looks like a couple have made the cut for this site.   The first one shows the collision damage from a few insects. :shruggy:
