I had a close call with the search for my hellcat today.---I've been looking for a dealer (since last year)that would order one for me for msrp.---

I got a call from a dealer on the east coast that just received what I was looking for.(a b5 man. trans car). He said it was for sticker price. :2thumbs:---

So I am at work when I get the call and I tell him I want to buy this car. I said I would be home in a few hours and to send what information he had to my email.

My mistake was to not make it clear that I would buy the car when we were on the phone. :slap:

I got home and there was no email. :'(---I called the dealer and the guy said the car sold about an hour after our phone call. :eek2:

This lesson is for me. I should have solidified the deal in some way while on the phone with him. I thought our conversation was enough to wait until I got off work.

Now I'm back on the hunt for what I am looking for.---It could very well be a 2016 issue.

It worked :2thumbs:----Update-- This morning  I got a call from Wisconsin about an incoming b5 man. trans. car. This time I had a credit card number ready and got clarification that this car is mine. Another up side is this one is a thousand miles closer so I will drive it home vs having it shipped.  :icon_smile_wink:  BTW no markup on the price.

Congrats, welcome to the club.  :2thumbs:

Thanks for that :2thumbs:  I am reluctant to believe it is true until I am behind the wheel with the red key and 1600 miles to get home.

So how are these things anyway?
Any real world reviews?  :popcrn:

I'm sure dirty T has some miles on his B5 now.  He's had it a few days so he should have an impression by now.     :shruggy:   I'd love to hear what you guys have to say with real world driving these kitties.

When things work out with my car deal my plan will be driving it about 1600 miles to get home. The route will be through North Dakota and Montana for the most part. ( I live in Oregon)
I will have something to say I'm sure

I did consider having the car shipped but after a bit of asking myself why I changed my mind.

What better first experience than a road trip for a first impression of a new car. Also when I get home the car will be used and ready for what I want it to be.--A fun thing to drive--

Remember the phrase "It's only new once" :2thumbs:

1974dodgecharger

are you guys saving these cars for the future?  Theres a guy on facebook that has his in storage literally in a bubble!!!  has like 10miles on it saids in 20 years he will sell it to retire  :icon_smile_big: :2thumbs:

ws23rt

My thought about those "investor" types is--they are just saving something for someone else to enjoy. And money (historically)is not made by preserving a car.
The fun of a new car is (for my taste) more in driving them than just owning them.
If someone can afford to buy one of these and just sit on it???  As my daughter would say "whatever"

Their could be some that could care less about the car and just buy it because of all the hype.
They also could be the seeds planted in the barns for the future. Gotta think about what the grandkids will find.

A road trip sounds great.   I'll have my things packed and waiting.    :2thumbs:   what part of Oregon?    Be sure to get pictures of the car at scenic spots along the way.    :2thumbs:
After 1,600 miles in the seat you should be able to give a great report.

68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

Baldwinvette77

a guy on my street had this one for a little while now, i was more concerned with the engine though... If he wrecks it, im first in line for his drivetrain

ws23rt

I need to say this. Popping the hood of a hellcat car doesn't do much for me. :shruggy:  You cant even see the engine.
This is one of the many things that set the old cars from the new.

The supercharger on the engine just pushes the engine further out of site.

With the old hemi cars the hood had to be opened. Those days were much more about the glitz of the power as well as what it felt like driving. Those that have hemi cars know what I'm talking about as well as other lesser engine folk :D

My interest in the hemi started with what the engine looked like. It was just a cool deal. (those were the early ones).
When I was driving a 68 hemi RR everyone needed to get a look at the engine. The hemi has a compact muscle look and they were so rare that the hood had to come up all the time.

IMO the hellcat cars are well designed and fitting with my taste (rather understated). :Twocents:

1974dodgecharger

that's how they are now ws23rt I agree with you whole heartely a  2nd gen hemi in my eyes is more impressive than a hellcat engine and a blower on top of old school HEMI is still more impressive out of this world.

ws23rt

:2thumbs:  I used 383 emblems on the hood of my 68 RR just so I could have peace wherever I stopped. :nana:

i mostly just took these pictures as a reference on how to fit one in an older car  :whistling:

I do think like you when it comes to what could be. :2thumbs:  That engine could be cleaned up and much of the stuff in there doesn't necessarily need to be where it is to make a car run. I've even thought about making a motorcycle out of that engine. The draw back for me is what it looks like. :shruggy:
