Bittersweet day. Sold my 71 Charger SE. Bought it twenty years ago for $1,200.00 and drove it home (it needed some work).
I posted a little for sale ad on the inside the quarter window of my 68 Charger at Carlisle a few weeks ago.
On the way back to the hotel Saturday night I made the comment to my wife that it seems no one is interested in 3rd gens anymore since I didn't get one call. Two seconds later my phone rings- it was the new owner. So she's off to Grafton,OH. The sale pays for my latest moneypit and a majority of the parts.
Still feels like I sold one of my kids.

Man, I hope your new "money pit" is worth it!  That is a sweet looking '71.

It's not easy, I think we've all been there at one time or another.  For example I bought a very decent 70 barracuda in 1990 for $1200.  Ten years ago I sold it cheap and the car is still haunting me- had a dream recently that I still had the car.  Heck, I couldn't even afford to buy the car now!   Also had a 73 charger SE that was bought by my father that has since passed and in the family for years.  Sold it to a kid and it was totalled in a month.  Sorry I'm probably not helping.  Just one of those things, sometimes it's just time to move them.

On the flip side, my wife agreed to let me buy a project 71 SE on the condition I fixed it to sell.  After three years of my own sweat and blood it's not going anywhere.

Beautiful SE guys, sure would be hard to let them go.

I would keep the SE and get rid of the wife.

I would at least consider trading her in for a newer model or one with less miles.  Something with a nice, tighter suspension and a generous set of airbags would be preferable...

Fortunately, there was at least one.
