I want to verify the 1968 VIN range, i.e. the last 6 digits.

Do they start Xx29x8x100001 ?

Do we know the last VIN issued?

And lastly, I'm seeing differing total 1968 Charger production.  Is there a DC approved figure?

6bblgt

info I have:
Hamtramck, MI "B"
XS29L8B100397 August '67 to XP29H8B454629 July '68 (88,325 Chargers)

St. Louis, MO "G"
XP29F8G197754 March '68 to XS29L8B282424 July '68 (7,783 Chargers)

96,099 total by month (or 96,108 total by plant) Chargers

GG shows 92,470 US spec. '68 Chargers (74,886 "XP29" & 17,584 "XS29")

leaving ~3,635 for Canada & Export

Thanks 6bblgt!

One more request from someone.  I need a clear pic of a 1968 Charger fender tag that I can use as an example.

Please send to:

is this a 68 tag? I think it was from my old 68, which is long gone....someone can decode it better than me..if it's not, I'll delete this pic

Homerr

Are there known ranges of Shipping Order Number for 68's?

Yes, this is all for the 68 Registry.  I'm about 60% done - still ironing out some submission details, losing hair over spreadsheet formulas, and going to build in some statistics...but it's getting there!

are you planning a "DECODE" as part of the registry? a couple pet peeves above

& Shipping Order Numbers (AFAIK)
A00001 - A50000 CANADA
010001 - 961000 USA & EXPORT

A383Wing

on the tag picture above, I do not have anything else..the car is long gone...

curious, what "pet peeve" are you concerned about?

Homerr

That decode was taken from here:  http://www.jani-immonen.net/decoders/tag6768.html

Thanks for the fixes!  (I think those were the pet peeves.)

No, not a 'real' decode... but there is input for fender tag info.  I'm trying to pare it down a bit to Charger-specific equipment & options.

I was going to limit Shipping Order Numbers to a range, but the Axxxxx alpha-numeric setup for Canada complicates that...will probably ditch that idea.

One of the optional features on the setup I'm putting together is to input fender tag info.  The tires are the latest thing that I'm hung up on.  I'm looking at 15 combinations available on this page:

http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/DealershipDataBook/1968/68_Charger0013.jpg

Maybe they didn't distinguish between black/white/red sidewalls so there would be only 8 types?

There are a bunch of slightly varying callouts on websites that don't even necessarily match to the year.  (Such as http://www.jimshine.com/tag%20info/44%20code.htm )

Does anyone have dependable information on the tire codes for fender tags?

A383Wing

I got GG's book here..has been pretty accurate so far
