I was wondering about the day that the dealers would reveal the new models for that year,in the 60's and 70's. Was there one date that was used every year? I know production started on August 1st. Was the introduction day that the new models were revealed/announced Aug. 15th? Sept 1st? I'm just curious if all the big three introduced on the same date? Did the date change yearly? When did this tradition end?

I don't know that there was ever a "set date" for automakers to introduce new models.  As you know the 66 Charger was introduced during the superbowl in January.
Ford was famous for introducing cars mid year.
Seems like it got earlier and earlier since the first Ford Model (whatever) was introduced in October (I have read).
Now they are all over the place.  Thing is now, they all LOOK THE SAME!!!!   :rotz:

It would depend some on the model year. The page at the link below is for the 1970 Barracuda / Cuda models, note the 'for release in newspapers' date;

By looking at the other Plymouth & Chrysler models in the same packet, you can see how the release dates were spread out;

I always remember September 1 as "the day".
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I always remember September 1 as "the day".

Me too.  It seemed that it was always the Labor Day weekend and new model introduction together.
