I have no patience...

The car's been off the road for what?  A week?  If that?  And I'm already itching to drive it again.  Of course I'm commited to do all these upgrades now so when grad school starts in May I don't have to do anything but drive.  I have to spread the cost of parts though so this is going to take a while.  I'm hoping to have it all done by winter.   :eek2:
Anyone need a driver for their Charger in the meantime?   :icon_smile_big:

I know that feeling, I would make up some BS on the importance of patience... But im not one to talk

Ghoste

Totally understand.  I'd like to take my car to the next level but I worry about whatever shop I get not committing to finishing quickly enough.

myk

I'm with all of you guys on this one.  My car's been in the shop since Monday getting its exhaust system made up and I'm chomping at the bit to hit the cruises this weekend.

We all need to just......hang on....

Ghoste

And I don't even drive mine every day.  It's just knowing that I have the option.

Great.  The new mini starter is bad so it, along with the header that's trapping it in the car, are going to have to come out.  There goes my car show weekend........ ::)

Do you play Halo dirk?  Maybe we can link up online while our dreams of internal combustion sits on jack stands...

No I don't, and I was always more of a Half Life guy.   ;)

I haven't played a single game since college started demanding much of my time.  I used to live and breathe games.   :yesnod:

To give you an idea of how long it's been, the last games played were Assassin's Creed 2, Gta IV, Mass Effect 2 and CoD Modern Warfare 2.  I've got a lot of catching up to do.    :icon_smile_big:

Still waiting on Half Life 2 episode 3 though.

Yeah, what with my 50 hour or more work weeks I don't have time for games either.  My game systems do a great job of collecting dust.

Back to the drawing board!

My 69 has been down for three years. It's painful. Progress has been super slow on it, it's been worked on here and there. The problem with having a friend work on it, but myself not knowing how to do things properly, nor having the time and the right tools, or right space for it. I'm really hoping this year it will finally be finished with the floor replacement, and I can just drive it already. Anything else I can just tackle as needed.

My 73 has been down for about 24 weeks. It's also painful. Most of the time was just trying to find a decent fender to replace the one a deer destroyed ramming into it. Ended up finding two fenders, both with issues, but worked both into one solid one. Now it's waiting for the body guy to get back from vacation, fingers crossed he doesn't take too long to fix it up. And then having to wait until my friends come back from the nats with some extra parts, especially ones for the AC-I'll maybe have the 73 back driving before then, but without AC, in the Louisiana heat....blah! I'm feeling too old for that haha.

When I started "fixing" stuff on my car after I first bought it (fully drive-able car), I NEVER expected one thing leading into a full-blown resto!
There's no way I could have committed to NOT driving this car (that I worked so hard for and wanted my entire life) for 2 or 3 years! But I had intentions of only doing this or that, and somehow the timeline just kept getting pushed off... a month led to two, then to six, now I'm hoping to pull it off within three years (one to go!).

Some things are worth the wait though...  ;)

Paitience is a bitch!

Man I wish. Patience isn't even part of the equation.  :icon_smile_dissapprove:

My car has been out and about 3 whole times this year.. And that counts the 2 days I drove it into Carlisle this year. Rebuilt the brakes on all 4 corners and the drivers front doesn't want to hold an adjustment. Wife wants the kitchen done, the project at work is in a state requiring extra hours, Kids have sports, other car maintenance, home maintenance,...  It's amazing how many things that never give a lick of trouble, break when that's the last thing you have time for. :rotz: The past day or two is the most involved in DC.com I have been in months.

Yeah I was wondering where you were.  I knew you were busy with projects though.  The kid issue is easy though, just take them to a trip to some far away forest...and come back alone.

How's the temp issue been on your car?  Still running hot?

It seems to be doing a bit better after the carb was fiddled with a bit. It needs the timing checked and the carb adjust finished before I get to upset about the heat.
Was supposed to do that 2 weeks ago.  :brickwall:  Next week it's supposed to be back in the 90s here so that's when I see if it's still giving me problems. Of course if I can't get the brakes to work I can't really take it out and overheat it. Though i guess driving really slowly in hot weather is what it needs in that regard.

You want to see a car get hot?  Park it in the driveway and let it idle.  Without movement you're not sucking in all the air as you would on the road.  Give it a few good punches on the throttle once it's hot and see what she does.  Flick on the A/C if you have it as well, put some extra load on it.   :yesnod:

Tell you what, my car is out of commission so I'll come get yours and drive it around until it cools off.  How's that?   :icon_smile_big:

Oddly enough, that's not when I was having the problem... but seeing that I have a stone driveway in the country it's not quite the same as sitting in traffic on backtop either.  :eek2:  I have some serious heat soak too.

Dino, your welcome to come out and drive my Charger *anytime*.   :2thumbs:  Just let me know when you want to visit the NH area and we can set it up.  I have an idea, you can stay at my place and watch the house and dogs while we go on vacation.
