Wow, $200,000.00 grand for a '69 Superbee.   Also a '70 Roadrunner went for around 135 g's at least.

The 200K was more than any Shelby Mustang 428 500 or whatever those are called or any Z-28s, even one with 11K thousand miles on it, or any mid sixties vettes with the 427, that is just way so cool.

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

I was watching last night when the 47 Bentley went for 1.6 mill. crazy and they get a commision 8% I think.

was that the one that was best of show at the nats back in the mid 90s (mabey like 94)? 100% #matching on everything trailer queen??  if so it was restored a block from my house, i remember seing just the shell sitting outside for like a month in like 92. super sweet car i had heard it was sold several years ago, as he prefers toys he can play with. i remember at the time of the resto reading that it set the benchmark for that vintige of mopar restoration. it was green, i believe it was a white stripe but dont remember for sure.

A COPO car is way more rare than a superbee, though..

I missed the Chevelle, and what is a COPO car?

The Superbee was optioned as one of 800 and something,   I don't think it had a stripe on it.   wait, maybe it did, aww, can't remember

You know the ford and chebby guys have to be pissed that a plain ol super bee is worth more than a shelby or ultra rare copo that I guess it was a BB car. Most times those were like the base for a Nickey or Yenko and are the cats ass to chebby people.

I believe I heard them say that the seller pays an 8% fee AND the buyer pays 8% also. Good money for 5 minutes work.

The Superbee was a green 440/6pack, lift off hood car and the guy bought it for his SON!!!

I won't lie and say that there isn't good money in it, especially when the car sells for that much, but believe me, there is CONSIDERABLY more than 5 minutes work that goes into each vehicle.  I won't even go into the overhead issues of paying staff, their travel, lodging and food, renting a building, advertising, licences, insurance, and on and on.
There is good money in it but good things are seldom easy.

Yes, I recorded the entire B-J Scottsdale auction this year (and the previous two years).  I am not suprised by the price at all, it would be a natural progression for the sixpacks to be the next big investment cars to own.  If I am thinking right, the car that sold for the $200,000+ price was in MCG a few years ago and the inside was burnt to a crisp (mad girlfriend) before being sold to the guy who restored it.  He did a good job fixing it as it became his restoration business calling card for his work.  All I can say is I am glad I found and bought mine when I did, eventhough it will be many years before that one goes back on the road........

That means Barrett Jackson made 320,000 off of that car. Anybody remember the Oldsmobile concept car that sold for 3mil? Barrett Jackson made 600,000 off of that :drool5:

I swear that good lookin' chick that works the floor pulls in more whales than any other staff member. It always seem like the guys that she starts in on do want to look inferior in front of a woman so they start bidding like mad-men just to make sure they don't lose in front of the girl.

What was the lot #?  I've checked their results page and there wasn't a superbee sold for that amount.   I saw the 500 on Fri (Thursday?) that was real nice go for $135K (?) or something like that.

Anyone have any information on which 500 it was that sold? Was it the R4 red, white interior, white tail stripe car? 4 speed? No headrest? With the new recall wheels on it? Or was it another factory 440 car, 4 speed with a crate HEMI in it?

It looks to be a 440 4 sp now currently with a 426.  I turned the show on as they were driving it off the stage, so I don't know much more.  Here's the description:

SCG, was that one of the reruns of Scottsdale that you seen that car sell?

Of course the Chebbby and Pherd guys are pissed, that's why they paint our engine bays black and spackle our trunks, to piss us back off. :P

My auto shop teacher told the class today he has a '67 GTX with a 440 and 4sp that he bought in '68, one of 550 or 560 made.  He said it could use a restoration, he said he thought it was worth about 30K, but that sounds low to me.  What do you all figure his car might be worth?  Sorry, no pics.

yupp i think thats the one i was thinkin of. never saw it in person after completion, but i drove by it siting as a bare shell for a month or 2 before the resto began. he had 2 bees the one he held on to was the white stripe car, with a buildt 440. i hear that one drive by some times in summer . at the time of the resto he owned a "6 pack" chrysler dealer in town and also was co owner in a resto products buiz wich he still has i think. seems to me all fit together. i cant believe anyone would buy that car as a driver for there son, no matter how much cash they have.

what is a COPO car?

Central Order Processing Office or something similar.  The ZL-1 COPO Camaro had the aluminum 427 in it and was extremely rare...GMs version of the Superbird in Holy Grail speak.  There was a COPO Chevelle as well, and of course the Vette.  Big big bucks.
