Mine's just about in the center of the pic.. can't really see it though as its facing toward the top of the pic so all I really see is a black smudge behind the green pop tent.   Were you in the group of 3 Cessnas/Pipers that flew over?

I can see NHChargers 68 though and a few others.  :2thumbs:

Must have been cool to fly over that show.  :yesnod:

Picture was taken by a quad-copter. It had to be "dumbed down" (resolution) to fit within this forums limits. Come on Troy, we can do better than this right? Either that or what I am doing is totally wrong. I am taking a 5mb plus picture and reducing it to a 200 kb mess just so it will accept it.

Post it using a link to another site, like say photobucket or Picasa web albums. Then you can link to the larger image instead of uploading to DC.com.  Troy needs to manage image size so that his storage needs don't explode. If he opened up the image size his storage needs would grow with the image sizes, 20-30 times ( 200k to 4-6 MB) and his storage needs/costs would explode.

dji?

May I ask which quadcopter?

DJI Phantom 3

Pro or Advanced?

I'm still in the learning stages with mine.  I've been up to about 100'.  I'm having issues right now getting a new firmware loaded and it's been hotter than hell up here.  I think we've set a record for most days above 90.  Last year we had a total of 20 & we're at 16 days already.

I have a Traxxas Alias for my 1st quad but it's nothing like the dji.

Pretty amazing little piece of equipment.

TripleBlackGator

It is the Professional model with 4K video. I just upgraded from the Phantom Vision 2 Plus which I had a little over a year. They are really nice pieces. Had mine up to 1100 feet so far.

Wow, no black Suburbans tracked you down?  I forget how many air miles out they go but when we were even close to 200' ( crane rental ) in the vicinity of an airport, an FAA goon would show up.

I have the Professional as well.

TripleBlackGator

Mine will go out 1.2 miles but I have only had it out 1/4 mile so far. The software imposes a 400 ft max ceiling but you can override that as long as you hit the agree button during setup. I have other pictures taken at Carlisle but the hassle of posting here kept me from posting them. I guess I'll have to set something up with another service and post links here.

Cool pic but how many people did you freak out thinking you'd crash the copter on their car?

Seriously though, did you ever give any thought as to what you'd do if the copter did come down on someone's car? Some folks have spent insane money on paint jobs.  :o

I think anyone with any smarts that owns and flies one of these has in their mind "what if?" That said, we would all be living in a cave afraid of the world. As the FAA begins their rulings about commercial use I am sure insurance companies will step up (For huge profits) and insure licensed pilots. Now unlicensed pilots (Hobbyists such as myself currently) are a whole other matter and yes if a copter were to fall and do damage to property or cause harm to someone's being they would be in for a shit storm.

That's one of the major issues regarding Drones....the FAA has yet to catch up and issue rules and regulations for them....As a licensed pilot I see a lot of problems down the road....

That being said, it's a great picture.  Love having green grass to park on and having a bit of space around each car so that you can actually open your door without hitting the guy next to you....

I need to, and will at some point, make the picture size limit larger. However, it still ain't gonna be 5 MB! We currently have over 200,000 pictures uploaded to the site taking up over 30 GB of drive space. Luckily, we now have (basically) unlimited bandwidth. In the past, some of the cars show threads were killers. With 30 posts per page and 4 pictures per post that's 24 MB of bandwidth for every person who reads it. We average about 2.5 million page views per month (obviously not all the same threads) which, currently, totals a bit over 120 GB of bandwidth. Just doubling the size of allowed attachments (400 KB which is still only 8% of your picture size) also doubles the server load. To get a realistic "modern day" picture size of 1 MB I'll have to upgrade all the hardware. I'm already paying $180 per month out of pocket. If everyone who complains about the picture size would just pay for 1 month of hosting then I'd be much more inclined to do it! Otherwise there's no choice but to stick ads everywhere (or keep the sizes manageable).

Living in a cave & afraid of the world & flying a copter over a car show field is a bit like comparing apples to oranges. I'm not anti remote copter, I was asking because I've seen people do all sorts of dumb s**t without thinking at car shows. There are a lot of people that are super anal over their car, some with good reason, but I won't be surprised if the Carlisle Fairgrounds starts implementing a rule banning them just like they banned the DC.com softball games that we all used to play between the stock class & the modified. People would bitch all the time over dents & broken glass.   ::)

I still think the photo is cool.  :2thumbs:

Let me know if this works. Pictures are better size. Click magnifying glass icon to really see them in all their glorious beauty. If you call 1MB glorious that is.
