Got to See the 1971 Barracuda I Sold 4 Years Ago

Close to 10 years ago I bought this project car, a 1971 Plymouth Barracuda from a guy in CT who bought it from another guy who came across it inside a barn in CT. The dealership sticker on the back was from the Washington Heights section of NYC so the dents in the car made sense. It had been off the road since the early 1980's & aside from dents, some rust & dirt, it was a fairly solid car. After having it for about 5 years & gathering parts for it, I decided I just couldn't get it done & sold it to a guy from Baltimore, MD so I could finish my other car. (which still isn't done...lol)

It was originally a 318 car with a bench seat, automatic on the column, & the color was called "Tawny Gold. (Better known as diaper skid mark brown)  :puke:

At some point in time it had been swapped to a 400-4V by a previous owner.

I lost track of the buyer over the years but a few months ago he sent me a message asking me if I had sold a Barracuda to a guy in MD. I said yes, & he said it was him & that he was almost done fixing up the car. I asked if he could sent photos & he did. He was also bringing the car to the Chryslers at Carlisle show I was going to be at & I couldn't wait to see it. We exchanged phone numbers, met up at the fairgrounds this past weekend & I got to see the car. Damn he did a nice job & even put a Hemi & a 4 speed in it.

Now I have to buy a few more lottery tickets so I can buy it back....LOL

Yeah, he told me he was going to sell it when I spoke to him on the phone. At Carlisle he wrote $80,000 on the windshield, you can see it in my photos.

I listed it for $8900 & sold it for $8000 even. It had lots of extra NOS, used & repro parts I scrounged up for it.

Sharp lookin' little hot rod!

Sure hope the next caretaker never has to take the driver's side valve cover off.
