A truck. Bought it new in January of 2001 and it was a daily driver until 2007. Sadly, it sits here, outside.  My son and his friend just learned to wash and wax on it last week so it looks better than normal.  Low-tech by todays standards, it still serves admirably when needed.

I just repainted the plate steel bumper (for the 3rd or 4th time).

It's basically stock, with the "Off-roadster" package and a bumper manufactured in Craig, CO (to deal with lots of mule deer on the roads at night here).

When I see what a replacement truck will cost, I do what I can to keep it going. So far, so good.

I really like the grille guard. I have a group on Facebook 1994 to 2001 Dodge Ram's (also covers the 2002 3/4 ton and up). Have a few members too off this website.

This is my 2001. Just put the tool box on it a few weeks ago. Still need to put my new mud flaps on yet and fix the rust on the doors.

My Dad taught me about TIME TRAVEL.
"If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week!" :P

You'd think that out here in the high and dry, I'd have no rust problems, but I do. Replaced the drivers door a few years ago and am now seeing the evidence of problems on the other door. Even the tailgate is starting to show issues.  Outside storage takes it's toll, even here.  The other storage issue is the top of the dash. It has cracked in two places. At 100k miles, the rest of the interior is still fine.  Do you know if a replacement dash top is available?

They had great colors that year-not sure which one I like better, but leaning towards the cranberry red one.

My dad bought this new, I eventually inherited it a few years ago when it needed some maintenance work.  It's a 1996, 2500 4x4 with a 318 and an NV4500 5 speed.
Been a darn good truck, but it's currently off the road getting a new bed, fenders, doors, rockers, cab corners, etc.  Has 252,xxx miles, still has original balljoints and tie rod ends!

Then I just bought this a few weeks ago, a 1994 2500 RWD 5 speed cummins, that was originally an AZ truck.  Virtually rust free compared to most trucks around here, now I've got the diesel sickness...  If it was a 4x4 it would be the diesel clone of my '96.   Has almost 300,000 miles on it.

Nice looking rig lloyd. I still have my 2001 2500 also.  Special ordered with every heavy duty item I could get and my consideration to snow was the limited slip diff.  I ordered it in Jan of 2000 and received it the end of March.  Yes, the '01 models were already on the assemby line early in '00.  Was the first brand new vehicle I ever purchased and had my name on the window sticker from the factory. Ads to its uniqueness for me.
I know what you mean by replacement cost lloyd which is why I baby mine.  My main concern is the dummy who may one day wreck it and I will never get what it is worth or be able to replace it.

This is how it site when not in use.

She gets around in the snow just fine (not just a stay in SoCal baby).

I'll add to the 2001 Dodge Ram pool. Here's my current daily driver here in Vegas. 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 2WD long bed single cab. Got a great deal on this about a year and a half ago paid $2500.00 for it. The guy was temporality living at a RV park and was getting ready to move on to his next stop. He was retired and doing some traveling. He decided that he didn't need the truck anymore and was up against the clock as far as getting rid of it. He listed it at $3200.00 and he even offered to sell it to me for $2500.00 after I was hesitating on it after learning that the A/C wasn't up to par.

I was searching for a while for the exact options I wanted in the truck (1994-2001 Dodge Ram). As every truck seemed to be an extended cab in which I did not want because I wanted the long bed and I did not want long bed with extended cab combined (too long of a wheel base). Also had to be 2WD Auto. The engine 5.2 or 5.9 I could deviate on as either would've been fine and ended up with the 5.9. I really wanted power windows but that option wasn't a deal breaker and I ended up with roll up windows.

Anyway this is what I ended up with. I ended up having the A/C fixed right after I bought costing me $375.00. So let's say I spent roughly $2900.00 on my rig with working A/C.

Nice old bunch of trucks, thanks guys!  I bought mine to play in the great out-of-doors and it has served me well. Driving in heavy traffic and then parking it these days isn't nearly as fun as it used to be.  It's still darn useful, however, when I cross the Front Range and head off into the boonies.  Hard to believe it's almost 15-years old now.
