How to remove brown from sidewall of tire

What causes the brown on the sidewall of the tire? What product works well to remove it?

Tread face temp increases cause this. It can also happen at lower temps if using tire glossing products that don't stand up to heat well. Once its happened, I don't think it is easily reversed, but a stiff nylon bristle brush may clean it up.

Steel wool may work.

Are you talking about a white wall?  Then add a coat of white shoe polish, the liquid kind, and try to saturate the side rubber.  Maybe it'll help.

Or - flip the tire on the rim so no one sees the white wall.

If the Westley's doesn't get it off I use soft scub with bleach. The stuff you use on kitchen sinks...

Wesleys Bleche White. It is the best at cleaning a tire. Bleche White must be sprayed on a cool dry tire or it wont work. If the tire is wet dont bother cleaning it at that time, tire must be dry. Spray on the Bleche White and scrub the tire with a stiff bristle brush, you can wet the brush. I do the tires first since they have to be dry for the Bleche white to work. Sometimes a really stained tire may require more than one cleaning. White letters come out white.

When applying the tire dressing, on a dry tire as well, don't get dressing on the white letters or they will darken or yellow.

I've always used SOS steel wool soap pads on my raised white letters. Been doing it for years and they always come up like new.

Agree on the Bleche White.   But I have always wet the tire first.    Then sprayed the product.     Have always thought it worked better to get the product to flow and be able to scrub the entire tire.

Have also heard that the Bleche White formula changed in recent years when they were bought out.     Can't say I have notived a difference. 

Before discovering Bleche White 35 years ago,  I used SOS pads.   Never since.

Bleach White is very good but has changed over the years.  It is NOT as good as it once was ... formula, dunno. 
I personally have had GREAT luck with Scrubbing Bubbles.  Has bleach in it. Works great on interior and seats too.  Easy to put in the trunk for shows and wipes right off.
