Yeah, I almost posted this to the 'Delusional Charger Sellers' thread then I realized that it's not the seller's fault.  If I were the seller I'd be stoked to get 16K for that thing.  I gave 8K for my 68 and it was in far better shape - and I still felt like I was getting bent over.

Well, it could be a resurgence in second gen Charger prices now that our cars' value is recovering from the hit they took due to the Great Recession.

But yeah, $16K for a total rust bucket (even the roof!) is nuts to me.  Assuming the "winner" doesn't get cold feet, he better be a helluva metal worker since the labor to replace all those panels will add up fast 'n' furious.  (As if all those panels won't cost big bucks.)

I don't get it, but if the new owner gets the 500 back on the road anyway, more power to him for rescuing a real Charger.

People pay crazy money for original plum crazy cars.  Which is funny because if the color is so popular you would think we would have been inundated with new purple Challengers when they brought the color back but it didn't happen.  People aren't getting a premium price for those either.   :shruggy:

Similarly you would think we would see tons of pink and lime green Challengers but...

There were 1,743 FC7 70 Charger 500s made so not that rare....in the shape it is in it is way overbid. Kind of smells like some bogus bidding to boost the price. :shruggy:

don't normally like putting my  :Twocents: in these types of threads ,  but  , there are some way out , bidders / buyers out there    :image_294343:   .  if they are real bidders  :P    just crazy whats being asked &  how much the potential buyers are bidding  ,  think the buyers are on drugs  now too as well as  some of the sellers  :yesnod:   unless  some of them don't understand whats involved to restore these cars properly , & have watched too many tv programs that make it look easy .  think the bidders / buyers need to join this site & can be advised whats involved etc & helped .  unless these guys have soo much didposable income  , money no object type thing  .. good luck to them   no offence meant to any one  , each to their own

if both parties are happy with the out come  , who am I to  argue  ,   i'm going to wait for my bus  :P  :shortbus:

Pretty cool car. I can see why there is interest even with the bad rust. I'd be surprised if goes much higher though.

Gotta love the photo of the door panels he will send along...... which will just go right into the trash can.

I seen that POS the other day & wondered WTF? I would think $5k would be tops for the rust bucket? A little more money & you could buy my 100% rustfree Charger. :shruggy: :slap: :Twocents: LEON.

owning a plum crazy /white /white car  I can say they attract a LOT of attention  :yesnod:

great colour with all the right options to make it "pop"  and be nice to drive    :scratchchin:    would be gorgeous when done    :drool5:

but 16 k is way to much for that roach   :Twocents:

I passed on a 70 r/t plum car here 3-4 years ago, a 4 speed too. Really baddd shape. Was asking 8k at the time and i passed as i had already really dug into me 70 r/t.

What slays me is that the car has decayed this far.

I know...its a common occurrence, but it takes many years for a vehicle to drop this low....and our cars have been desirable for a long time....especially purple ones.

Somehow, these prized vehicles end up in the hands of people that don't give a crap about them, and they rot to hell.     It pisses me off.

Don't blame the seller. Good for him if it actually sells for that much. On the other hand, anyone willing to pay that much for a car in that condition should really rethink their decision.
