Run a couple of tanks with a can of Seafoam thru it.  This stuff will clean your whole fuel system and you can even double up and run 2 cans per tankful of gas if you want.  Good stuff!

Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

Techron is sold by the pint at Walmart and auto parts places down here and is a very good alternative.  I use nothing but Chevron gas in all my vehicles as Techron, in my opinion, is the best gas additive out there.  A bottle of pure Techron in a full tank every 5k or so seems to keep them all running great.

That said, if I had to empty my tank of bad gas and try to clean the rest of the system, including the injectors, I would still use Seafoam to do the job. YMMV

I'm wondering if the injectors erode with time?   It's good to keep them clean but does the metal injector nozzle erode after some time??  Cleaning them does not help.  You would have to change the injector to return them to max performance/ :shruggy: :shruggy:  Is there any way to tell???

myk

I've run nothing but Shell or Chevron gas in all of my cars since day one.  Changed the fuel filter, run sea foam, all that stuff.  However that didn't stop three of the injectors in my '97 Z28 from needing to be replaced at some point.  I know of cars that don't have any maintenance done at all to them and they're running just fine.  I just think it happens and there's not much sense to it.  All you can do is just maintain and hope for the best...

I was wondering about that myself. Then I got wiff of fuel one day on my 89 Cherokee. I had just a tiny wetness at the rear injector to rail O ring, just briefly if the Jeep was cold. Looking into the repair I found rebuilt or serviced injectors and bought some Bosh that were a proven upgrade for the 4.0 6cyl. engine. What I found out was the O rings at the injector to head do get crappy with age and the injectors spray pattern can be effected by varnish buildup at the tip.
My Jeep was running strong before replacement of the injectors but after replacing with the Bosh my mileage shot way up and is running really smooth.  :2thumbs:
It cost about 95.00 for the injectors off ebay, they match sets for flow and come with O rings ready to install. I'd say any car pushing 20 years old or so it's a good investment that pays for itself in mileage and safety.  I also checked/treated every connector in the engine bay I could find with Caig Labs DeOxIt DL100, many, even the sealed type connectors had issues starting or well underway at the contact pins.

Seafoam is great stuff but if its a older car it can loosen anything in the tank and clog filters. Sometimes it cleans to good.

mopar combustion chamber cleaner

I use to use seafoam in my stuff, then i tried this stuff thru my 98 dodge ram and never looked back  at seafoam

this stuff is the ticket when used thru the throttle body.

Being a aerosol can im not sure how you could use it thru your tank, but for any other items this stuff works great

I like Lucas injection cleaner. I don't know how to test or verify it works but I know I never have problems with old gas in my small engines.
