Considering it's got Chicago stickers all over it... it's probably 331 "Bright Red" or "Charger Red". The 68 red has a lot of orange tint and the Bengal orange is fairly bright. No evidence of a stripe either.

   It says this cars damage is from a tornado from 1990. The famous Plainfield IL F5 tornado is in 1990. Got allot of Chicago stickers on it?

The Fender tag or build sheet will not tell you if it's a bengal or not. Would tell you if originally orange which was not available in 68, unless your ordered a Bengal. Maybe Special order color? LEON.

Unless I missed a pic of serious underbody rot, Id rather fix that car than fix the body of one that's had 40 constant years of maaco repaints. At least you know what you've got with this one.

Measure the chassis to make sure its still square, replace roof with donor one at spotwelds, and then it's more solid than most projects these days. It's probably better than my 68 project I'll get to the Tuesday after never.

it looks more like a fadded red than orange. i have the exact copy to this charger in my back yard and the paint color looks identical

Considering some of the "projects" people are buying these days to restore...this one should be savable....at least it has more metal than rust.
