Yep we have a lot of ignorant people here in the US, but those questioned could very well be visitors, illegals, or immigrants in general and the latter would likely know history since they were forced to study history to pass the naturalization process.  The citizens who get this question wrong need to be forced to attend US History summer school courses in a school with no AC.  Like I had to attend once. once...

I was always a fan of history, been to most of the civil war battlefields, as well as the revolutionary war memorials.  If they were within driving distance of where we lived, my dad would usually drag us to the battlefields so we could get educated about our past.  As an adult with kids, I can now appreciate all he did for us back then, wish I had done the same with my own brood.
