Anyone know anybody who restores 71-74 charger se door panels? Particularly the chrome plastic pieces that always have the chrome worn off?

No idea...
But I do have a complete 73se Triple black interior in my garage, do you have a pic of the part you need, I maybe able to help out.

Nice! I've got a complete black set as well still in a 73 se triple black too but I was saving them for another car. . However the panels I have for the 72 se are nice but the chrome is worn off on the plastic trim that is on the se door panels themselves? How much would you want for your front and back door panels? Are they practically in excellent condition?

That ribbing is the first to go, I know what you are talking about.
I know a fellow you repairs door panels, I will ask he if he can do that. I will see him Thursday.

I will look and see what condition they are in and post a pic

I think it's safe to say anyone who has an SE w/original door panels has this problem.  :yesnod:  ;)

I'd say that is correct. . They make rallye style door panels new but I wonder why no se door panels have been made

And here is another issue...the wood grain is fading. I don't know if the other years have it but the '71's have a wood grain panel in the center and it's faded a bit. Anyone know of a way to brighten it up (along w/the rallye dash) even if it's temporary?

As far as the instrument panel bezel, I used pledge. It seemed to make it somewhat brighter, but mine wasn't too bad to begin with.
On the wood grain, you could just replace it.
Somewhere on here I posted pics of the wood grain I replaced on the console.
Bought a roll from Home Depot or Lowes I believe it was. I have the name and stock number somewhere home.  But here is an old and new together.

That console looks nice but not what I'm talking about. My console doesn't look too bad seeing it sat inside for some 20 yrs. What I'm referring to is the wood grain on the door panel which looks plastic not like what is used on the console. Here is a pic off it when I first brought it home. I have since cleaned it and am trying to brighten it up a bit.
Also what can be done to the lower panels. Have tried Mothers Back to Black and Turtle Wax Trim Restore to no avail. What's next, paint?

You could paint them but if they are scratched I would just buy new ones since they are available

What I replaced is the woodgrain on the console top. However it looks as if there is some kind of trim on yours.
If you are interested in the vinyl woodgrain, As I said I got it at Home Depot.  I can look up the number.

The one at Depot was more of a vinyl ... but maybe these are too, they just call it paper.

Yes there is a chrome strip around the edge but I could just replace the woodgrain if needed. I can see that some of the edge is starting to peel up a little but it's good for now.
Since I took that pic I took apart the console and cleaned it up. Looks nice and I really need to update my pics.
I found a pic of my door that shows better the issue I'm trying to address. The panel in the center is much more faded than the other area and the silver stripped area is raised so I can't just go over it with a vinyl sticker. It seems to be some type of plastic.

Sorry for the delay in replying, its been a really busy week here.
So the door panels I have are no longer pristine, it appears something fell on them and made a real mess of them.

polywideblock

don't they bead blast them and paint using interior paint/ dye  like what herbs sell    https://www.herbsparts.com/products.asp?cat=832

Sorry, totally lost track of this thread.  Anyway, I think us 71 SE owners are kind of stuck when it comes to the woodgrain pieces that attach to the door panel.  I think mine have faded but I really wish I could find an nos one to compare it to.  In my case I had two sets and used the best ones.  It looks to be a woodgrain decal on a metal plate that is fastened from the back to the door panel.  One of mine has several scratches in the finish and shows shiney metal underneath.

At least from the pic the chrome foil trim looks pretty good on yours.  For the lower sections I painted mine using that vinyl spray paint in a can and so far it's holding up fine.

Arch, you mention chrome foil and this leads me back to a question for the OP (sorry, got a little off track).
Is it actually a chrome strip or silver paint? My trim on the doors and dash is just some sort of silver paint. The door panels on my '72 Galaxie is a chrome foil which has peeled off in one area so I have seen both.

The silver on my door panels on the Charger are in good shape but the dash was gone in some places. I used a silver metallic Sharpie to make it look better. Might be a little hokey to some but it works for me.
