I got a new toy home this week
Seemed like Christmas would never come but it finally got here
Had a chance to move it last year before the snow came but did not work out
1969 Charger  :2thumbs:
just in the initial snooping through the parts stage and decoding the fender tag

When did they first start building the 1969 Charger ?
Looks like this one was born on Aug 7

This is what one of the fender tag decoders I found came up with

Is not code A01 for the light package ??

It is for the light package (A01 that is).

70 sublime

So when did they start building 69 Chargers ?
next project 70 Charger FJ5 green

Alaskan_TA

Most online decoders contain errors, it looks like the one used was for 1970 up?

The date is the scheduled production date which was the date they hoped to build the car, but there is no way to know if the car was actually built when they hoped to.

Ghoste

The earliest 69 in the registry so far is July 28.

Baldwinvette77

Another q5 car? man, you are going through q5 69 chargers like copy paper, So how long until someone stops by and purchases this one from you?  :popcrn:

VegasCharger

Nice scoop there Sub Lime :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Now all you need is a 68 to hit for the cycle

70 sublime

Well I do know of a 68 sitting just have to save up a few more $$  ;)

Son asked me the same thing
In the back of my mind have always thought if I ever had 3 they would all be different
One fixed up all original stock factory
One Daytona clone
One with a stupid big motor (turbo or blower)

Mine is the day before yours...  :nana:  It is 102493 with Aug 6th as the build date.  Looks like they made a few in those couple of days. At least 600.   :scratchchin:

Ghoste

I took the liberty of adding it to the registry database, there are about 30 cars ahead of it so far with most being from that first week of August.

Good

70 sublime

Would a car built that early in August have had a vin number on the motor to have matching numbers ?
I have a Sept 383 block with the vin by the oil pressure sender

Is it the original motor?

Does yours have the mystery firewall hole as well?

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,22093.msg244485.html#msg244485

Yes my car has the hole
You can see it just above the 3 spd wiper
Someone has poped the plug out and there is a choke cable running to the carb through it

My engine had the vin no. stamped down on the pad beside the sump but I'm speculating whether someone actually stamped it on there though. The block casting date seems to line up with the date of when the rest of the car was built i.e. within 2 weeks of each other.

Database not kicking back dips?   it was added about 5 years ago.

The motor in the car now is a 1975 400 (which is what we thought it was going to be but had to check to be sure)

It has some wiper marks on it so I will have to keep my spare glass
So I guess it will depend on when you ever get yours running if you can wait for me to change mine to get the old one

Q5 rocks man, good find.

70 sublime

Car had a build sheet still under the back seat
Did not come out very well but I figured I might as well have it instead of leting the critters use it for a house

Got it all laid out again and most of it seems to be there

Looked at the VIN number on it and it seems to be not mine but for a car 20 numbers before mine that is also Q5 in colour

Is there anyplace to decode a 69 build sheet ?
next project 70 Charger FJ5 green

Baldwinvette77

Cool  :scope: i have no idea what any of that means but cool,

maybe i should create a build sheet and data plate for my car  :scratchchin:

And whatever, take your time on the windshield, worst case scenario i'll just take the cracked one from this satellite and tint it black, i sure noone will notice

472 R/T SE

A St. Louis Charger, no wonder it had a broadcast sheet.

I like that Q5, beautiful color.   :2thumbs:

Umm, submitted back then possibly but it wasn't in there until now.

70 sublime

Was not really looking for another Q5 car as I had other plans for this one
Last Q5 I had was an A/C power window cruise control car with the original numbers match 383 still in it
Did not have the heart to convert it
My 70 is a real FJ5 R/T car and do not think it would look right in that colour of green with a wing on it either

This Q5 I have now is turning out to be kind of cool being such an early productiion car but since the original motor is long gone maybe I will not feel too bad turning it into a Daytona clone  :2thumbs:

Just have to keep this blinky guy out of my yard and I should be able to hold on to this one

70Sublime - If I'm the "blinky guy" (I don't know what that actually means), don't worry...I'm not after your newest acquisition...That would lead to me getting an unwanted divorce.
