Lots happened here in the last 7 years.  i got married, had a son, bought a house, made lots of repairs and upgrades on said house, bought a boat, etc.  The '71 Charger got neglected and started to rust.  We have been in talks with someone here on Long Island to rebuild the engine and do all the metal work to make it look nice.  Definitely not going for a show car; just want to make it look good and safe for me and my family to go to cruise nights and enjoy it.  Yesterday, we had the car picked up and taken out of my yard.  It should be ready in about 6 weeks since it is the only car they will be working on.  Then it is off to paint at y brother-in-law's shop.  Should have it on the road by the end of summer.  Looking forward to showing you all the updates and finished product.

Thanks all.  Still waiting on some pictures for the car.  We had some good news which quickly turned into bad news.  Good news was that the motor was matching numbers to the car.  bad news was that during the rebuild, they noticed that the engine block was cracked right by the crank shaft.  Pretty much not repairable from what I was told.  Since the original motor was a 318, we were going to put a 383 or a 440 in there, but the rear diff would probably need to be replaced too then.  Bigger motors are pretty pricey for originals, so we are going back to the 318 since they are pretty much everywhere and we do not need to change the rear diff for it.  The guy will be rebuilding it, cleaning it up, painting it, and then putting it in.

We had previously had the entire exhaust redone with Heady Shorty Headers and Flowmasters.  We added the Front Disc Brake Conversion Kit to the front with a new master cylinder and new power booster.  Redid the rear drums and all the brake lines.  New gas tank and fuel sending unit.  Redid all the spark plugs and wires as well.  The dash is still in pretty amazing condition, so no need to do anything to that at all.

Now we are getting all the body work done, fixing the panel on the passenger door, redoing all the seat cushions and covers (blue and silver), replacing the fiberglass driver fender with metal, replacing the rear wheel wells and trunk pan which were completely rotted, reinforcing up the frame, resealing the windshield since it was leaking from there, replace the rear deck panel, and changing the door locks.

The car will be painted metallic blue and silver when she is done.  Have a flamed out billet steering wheel that will be added and, of course, the rims are staying.  :)

Waiting on some new pics today.  I will post them as I get them.  Thanks again everyone.  Nice to hear from you all again.   :2thumbs:

Not to mention you can drop in an EFI 360 with a 4 speed auto with little effort.
