The flag started flying over the  S.C. state house during the civil rights movement in the early 60's. 
Then in it is not lowered to 1/2 mast after the church shooting.

How could it be somehow linked to racism?

Nowadays seeing a group of hooded/robed people is rare even here in the south.  To be truthful, I haven't ever seen a gathering of robed groups gathered for protest or anything else in 40 years of life in the south.  I think that's pretty good.
Too bad they can't accept what is and are focused too much on what was.  Some of us didn't care for what was and improved things as we could.

They  will be having a peaceful protest gathering at the SC capitol where the flag was removed in the next couple weeks.  Forgot the date.  The black panthers will also be there and probably a few other circus shows.  The KKK spokesperson they interviewed said they were not the white supremacist group but a group dedicated to look out for the rights and concerns of white people from being racially targeted in reverse discrimination acts by the government. That's not a quote but a interpretative summation.  Also stated was some of them would be carrying concealed permitted protection in case the black panthers follow through with their public threat to kill off whites and take over the place.  Yesterday on the local channel was a group of NAACP types denouncing the actions and protest allowance of the KKK while at the same all proudly displaying their hypocritical views through their Black Panther campaign buttons.  Will be interesting viewing. It isn't over by a long shot. (pun could be intended).

The kkk is doing the protest on July 18th I believe.   They are full of it if they try and say they don't hate.   They are the worst of the white trash.

Leopards can't change their spots, and neither can the kkk.  I've yet to find an organization that supports whites without the hate attached. 

Yes, trying to rewrite history, and  erase the past and "whitewash" over it is sacrilegious, just as refusing to allow graves to have small confederate flags is as well.  Change the future, not the past. 

Tomorrow should be an interesting day, I got my 3 battleflags in the mail today, one will go up tomorrow, the neighbors are all fine with it, even the Yankees across the street.  Was glad they weren't flying today when cops descended on our street trying to find a screaming child or girl.  My daughter had a friend over last night and they were running around squealing like 10 year olds, had to explain that to cops even though they weren't really looking at that as the cause.  We almost never see cops on our street, when they do show up, most of the men in the houses around me all come out to the front yards and stand guard or to answer questions if asked.

As I understand it, there was an Amber alert today for a small child, and that may have been the reason why cops were out in force looking for screaming kids.

This afternoon was a surprise, I've had my flag up now for a few days, and today four more neighbors raised the battle flag in front of their homes.  It was a welcome sight to see that many willing to step up and stand up for their heritage.  Not one of them has ever said anything hateful over the last 10 years. 

The funny thing is that now, with multiple flags showing on the street, we have two houses that just went up for sale...(not for this reason, one was getting old and wanted to live nearer to kids) but anyone driving around looking at houses may be a little concerned with every house on one side of the street flying rebel flags.  May encourage the "right" kind of neighbor to look favorable... right being someone that keeps their front yard neat looking, and doesn't mind neighbors drinking beer in their driveways after work and believes the past is important to remember, so we don't make the same mistakes twice, but allows us to remember both the good and the bad, without throwing race into it.

I want to put up a flagpole to fly a Confederate flag but my wife can't agree on a pole    I think a straight pole is fine but my wife wants a tapered one. I can't justify paying double for a tapered one though.

if its really tall, a tapered may make sense, for a shorter 20 footer don't think it makes much difference.

Walmart is putting stickers over the front license plates of Bandit 1 on their Smokey and the Bandit movies.  But, if you go into the magazine section, you can buy a Civil War magazine with the flag being displayed loud and proud on the cover.  No plastic cover on it.
