So who's taking the flag off their Chargers?

Not likely.  Even if demand for GLs did reduce (big 'IF'), the conversion is about $3000 in decals, wheels, and bolt-ons.  The other $30,000 worth of '69 Charger underneath doesn't change.

:Twocents:

The amount of money that a GL conversion adds to the going rate for a '69 Charger has always been more than the math justifies anyway.  That's why we get places like HLPAG.

Evidently no one wants a general lee now, cept the few that drive them.  As far as I'm concerned, a general lee clone is usually a restored charger or charger r/t and that is a good thing but I don't think it adds any value over a regular charger unless its one directly from the show.

ordered my flags, may not have displayed them before, but plan to do so now, even if it pisses off a few neighbors.  One neighbor is moving back up north soon, too bad he was a good neighbor, and I wouldn't do anything to offend him, but the one across the street is from upper new York, pretty sure he won't like it as he's uber liberal.  Now I'm looking for smaller rebel flags, one small one to go on the charger's antenna, and a sticker for the back bumper.  Think I may install a hidden holster in the car just for protection from carpetbaggers from up north stirring a pot that has been settled and calm for decades.

To me at least, the flag has nothing to do with slavery.  It is a heritage thing, my heritage, my past. My living in the south who was proud to display it at one time, my attending a college whose flag was the battle flag and song was Dixie, and now a rebel attitude that disagrees with political correctness and the North and Liberals forcing their way on the majority.  I'd get an air horn that played Dixie for the car, but I really don't want it to look like I'm a DOH fanatic, I never was.  Although I did enjoy seeing a dodge charger on TV, it usually came on when I was out carousing with my southern friends, so didn't see it often.

Now if they made me choose between being a southerner and being a Texan....I'd have to choose Texas, but I can be both a southerner and from Texas.
I was a new Englander for a while, and respect the "don't tread on me" flag, only part of that attitude that has survived to adulthood was a preference for the Green Bay Packers to win their games.

I work almost everyday with two black guy's and they were talking about how disgusted they were with the whole Cosby thing and commented that he wouldn't be back on tv anymore. I spoke up and said yeah I really like the cosby show and I said they have pulled my favorite show off the tv too and Mike said what show???? I said The Dukes of Hazzard and he said he like the dukes too and that was ridiculous that they took that show off the air. It's not all the black's that have a problem with the rebel flag but somehow a select few can get their way and drill it into people that can be easily manipulated to believe anybody that flies that flag is racist and full of hate!!

Had the General Lee out again tonight. Still, 100% love for the car, period.

That's proof that it's NOT the general public that has a problem with it.
It's all the others that should be spending their time chasing down all the baby daddy's instead of a flag.   The absent baby daddy's are doing more harm to those people than any flag will ever do.   Again, I know it, you know it and they know it.

I didn't much care to before but I will be putting up a flag pole and flying a flag now. My confederate stickers should also arrive any day now.

I wonder how long till it's a hate crime to have a confederate flag on your vehicle?

I had mine out last weekend and a group of bikers said hello to me and asked where my confederate flag lol. we had a quick discussion on it and they were in agreement of what a bunch of nonsense that was and how endearing the general was and is. You could tell  as they smiled admiringly what a positive impact the car, the show ,and possibly the flag has had on their lives and what it represents to them in particular.

Kinda hard to sell a car when it's not displayed at the auction.

I just saw FBI stated the background check wasn't done right and this kid had drug charges. He shouldn't have got the gun in the first place. So it's the stores fault not the flag. But it's too bad no one will see it that way.

Now they will debate background checks and gun debates.

I can't see much debate happening there it's been too long and we lack thee attention span to learn about and try to address any root causes.  By now those Krazy Kardashians will be doing something interesting again so we can all get back to out tv,s, smartphones and ipods.

Ran to town this evening to pick up some part's at my local part's store and I bet there were at least 50 to 75 flag's flying that I saw today. Some truck's had one american on one side and the rebel flag on the other side and some had rebel flag's on both side's. Several now flying on flag pole's in people's yard's but mostly on car's, truck's and sport utility vehicle's!!! I am glad to see it myself!!! They said there were 10,000 people that showed up when they removed the flag from south carolina. I just kinda chuckled when me and my buddy were talking about it and I told him it would be triple them number's if they said screw it we are putting it back up!!! :yesnod: This is not going to die down anytime soon it doesn't look like, not down this way at least... And by the way I ordered two model kit's from hobby lobby.com and they came in within a few day's. If you are looking to buy up a couple of model kit's it may be a good place to look. Price's are normal and not ridiculous like amazon.

People of all colors, all ages, love the crap out of my 69 Charger that's half-way done as a General Lee. People took pictures of it, and with it, all the time, thumbs up, people hollering at stop lights/signs. The orange paint and decals raise the car's already rock star status even higher.

It has been off the road for close to 2 years now, waiting on my friend to get back to working on it and replace the floors, but my plan has always been that if I keep it, I would de-General Lee-ize it eventually, and paint it black. Unless, of course I get a pretty sweet offer to sell it as is...

I grew up with the show, loved it as a kid, and I've enjoyed the car as it is, it's so much fun. I do think it's hilarious some people expect a Joe Dirt looking dude to come out of the car, instead of a bald Latino!

OH, I wasn't aware that you were Latino elanmars.    :rotz:
I'm going to have to ask that you post in another thread.  Maybe one that has some of your people in it.    It's not personal, it's just that if we let you post here then it's sending a message that it's ok and next thing you know we'll have every Latino posting here.

And, you're bald on top of that.  :brickwall:  Before you know it we'll end up with all the bald guys thinking it's ok to post here also.
You do understand that we just simply can't have that?      :nana:  :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana:

Seriously though, I still can't believe how lucky you were after seeing the pictures your old 69 that was totaled.    :pity:
Just be glad that you're still with us.  Even though you're a bald Latino.    :icon_smile_big:   :nana:

Most of the problem with this issue is the laws of political correctness vs. representation of the people. According to Gallop, Americans are firmly opposed to boycotts of and about the flag by a 65% to 27% margin. So who are these representatives representing?

Took the GL and Bandit to the cruise on Sat night and again the response was overwhelming. I live in Houston which is in the south but is also one of the most racially diverse cities in the U.S. People of ALL nationalities were taking pictures with it- I really think this has made the car even more famous which I didn't expect.

After people thanking us for bringing it out and telling us they didn't feel the show was racially motivated my wife felt more comfortable and let my older daughter ride home in it- it's her favorite car so it was a big deal.

Does anyone know if cmt is still playing the Dukes?

Sadly I think CMT is viacom as well. I was looking on CMT and didn't see the duke's anywhere on their schedule. I am betting TV land has lost a crap ton of viewer's and honestly there isn't much on CMT that I have any interest in watching either.....

I finally received my GL from Supercar Collectables.  Luckily, I was able to get it before they discontinued the run, and before the prices got outrageous.  Still paid more than I really wanted to though. :P  Got the best one available from Autoworld.  Excellent detail but had to laugh at the packaging of it.  For anyone that hasn't bought one, until it's opened, the flag isn't visible, at least on mine.  There is an orange sticker that is packaged into it that covers the flag.  Undo the packaging, and the flag is visible.  The orange sticker can be applied just by peeling off the backing paper.  This is for the people that like the car, but are offended by the flag.  They can still enjoy it even without the flag in view.

I like this idea.  Too bad common sense got clouded over.

440

Not sure which one I got (Round 2 Models) but it was the same. It had an orange sticker covering the flag that needed pulling off. Not a bad model though, one of the better models for the price.

I'M sorry if some African Americans are offended but guess what?   Do they want to know what offends us about their culture?    I think we're tired of supporting them in the ghettos.

Dude he's certainly not talking about you. It's been said many times that both sides of this thing lump too many into these groups. Not all blacks are in the ghetto living on welfare and not all people who wave the rebel flag are racist pigs.

My problem with the flag hatred is this. He who is willing to take another's freedoms, deserves not freedom for themselves.
