Yeah I think the Cosby thing disappointed everybody.  Some celebrities come across as douchebags from the start.  You can sort of enjoy watching their downfall.  But this wasn't a pleasant thing to find out about Bill Cosby of all people.

But that's what happens when kids are expected to find role models in the media instead of at home.  They get raised by the media instead of parents because both parents work 25 hours a day just to keep them fed & safe these days.

We still just need to fix the economic problems.  Do that, and parents can afford to spend some time raising their own kids, and then the moral decay of the media is no longer so detrimental to families.  Instead we seem to be more focused on the fixing the media than fixing the jobs & working conditions.  It's totally putting the cart before the horse IMO.

If the confederate flag does come down why not turn the American Flag upside down?

http://www.usaflagsupply.com/upside-down-flag/

"We must remember that our flag represents the government of the United States and all of its policies. It also stands for our freedom of speech, our right to practice or even not to practice the religion of our choice and it represents one united nation in all its glory and the American values. Most importantly it stands for the sacrifices made past, present and in the future to protect our freedoms."

The Gadsden flag would make more of a statement.

Well, it looks like the flag is finally done ....  :rotz:

It's still protected by the 1st amendment.

It's going to bring them closer together.
We'll see.  One more victory for the hate groups.  One step closer for the flag becoming a symbol of racism and hate.    :brickwall:

I grew up with both the Cosbys and the Dukes...wonderful and very positive shows that anyone in the family can watch...now I feel that they both have been tarnished  :'(

And I agree with Mike...troubled economics leads to troubles in society.

It's unbelievable how misinformed our "best and brightest" political leaders are, or supposed to be  ::)

Gee . . . it almost makes you wish South Carolina had just lowered that stupid flag to half-mast for a few hours and avoided all this, doesn't it?

Yea, I hope some state official there is kicking their own butt for that one.

While I do agree with that to an extent. The has been coming on and that probably would have just bought more time. We are just going to continue to loose freedoms ............

Here's a nice tidbit of information.  It is, by an act of Congress, that a Confederate soldier is still considered an American, and considered a veteran.  So, bashing a Confederate soldier, is bashing a vet.

Lord Warlock

If you hadn't heard yet, yes the flag will be brought down tomorrow.  But will that satisfy the democrats? no, Pelosi has already floated a bill to remove confederate flags from confederate cemetery's,  or any public land (museums), they will not stop until every reference to the south is decimated and crushed at their feet, then they will move on to someone else's heritage or more likely try to officially apologize for slavery, as if we were the only nation on earth that had slaves, there are STILL slaves in Africa, why should we apologize.  (Other democrat running has endorsed the apology) only it will look stupid for a black president to apologize to himself.

Now that they've succeeded in SC, they'll abolish everything they can.  Disgusted, and ashamed I was once a democrat. (I switched after the last Hillary primary, and voted Obama against Clinton, we do NOT need another Clinton Term). I'm now an independent.

Hate to mix cars and politics, but since this is about a car and flag, here goes:

The problem with progressives and their liberal agenda are that they are never satisfied. EVER. And the loudmouth seems to win, or otherwise get their way  :Twocents:

So take any issue and watch how it goes. Starts with a push, then they demonize anyone who disagrees, calls them names, and then makes it about guilt. Times are a changing'  :popcrn:

Anyways, I think 3 weeks ago, we knew the flag issue would not go away. I think we knew SC would cave to a removal, but it's not enough. "They" will now try to eradicate any trace of this icon of southern history. Right, wrong, or indifferent, history should not be changed to suit, or erased to benefit feelings.

All that said, here's the main problem with politics these days. Most Americans couldn't care less about rocking the boat. They just go about with their lives. And that's a problem. Complacency. So long as it doesn't affect their 358 channels of reality TV, double mortgages, etc., they ignore and keep on trying to get by.

So back to the loudmouths. Most American's just let it go, live and let live... But not the progressives. It's their way, period. And that's why we're seeing such change taking place. More in the past few years, than what's happened the past few decades.  And all that change, regardless of the issue, is it really for the better?

Another interesting phenomenon, is how the internet and power of the net is shaping opinions. Two things I really noticed lately are how "catchy" tag lines (which are not 100% accurate) are more of an opinion than news, and how non-American's post about the happenings in the United States, as if their opinion ought to matter in a debate within our country. But both seem to be shaping politics in the USA.

And as a post script, and back on topic, who GAFF what or why "Northerners"  or others outside the Southern States believes Southern heritage should be dismissed or eradicated to oblivion.  ::)  But I guess that's why we're a democracy, or used to be.

:Twocents:

The liberal side is not the only one that tries to move certain goalposts & rewrite certain parts of history.

How many conservative politicians today fight for higher corporate tax rates? Higher taxes on the super wealthy?  Reduced military spending/size?  "The good ole days" of the strong American middle class were like this compared to the present day.

Both the modern parties like to rewrite history IMO.

You want to talk about a flag that represents slavery?  How about this one?

Lord Warlock

ordered my flags, may not have displayed them before, but plan to do so now, even if it pisses off a few neighbors.  One neighbor is moving back up north soon, too bad he was a good neighbor, and I wouldn't do anything to offend him, but the one across the street is from upper new York, pretty sure he won't like it as he's uber liberal.  Now I'm looking for smaller rebel flags, one small one to go on the charger's antenna, and a sticker for the back bumper.  Think I may install a hidden holster in the car just for protection from carpetbaggers from up north stirring a pot that has been settled and calm for decades.

To me at least, the flag has nothing to do with slavery.  It is a heritage thing, my heritage, my past. My living in the south who was proud to display it at one time, my attending a college whose flag was the battle flag and song was Dixie, and now a rebel attitude that disagrees with political correctness and the North and Liberals forcing their way on the majority.  I'd get an air horn that played Dixie for the car, but I really don't want it to look like I'm a DOH fanatic, I never was.  Although I did enjoy seeing a dodge charger on TV, it usually came on when I was out carousing with my southern friends, so didn't see it often.

We don't have any black neighbors, so doubt i'll get much from them unless they go out of their way to deface or steal the flag off the porch, and if that happens, I'll mount it on the roof and it will fly every day instead of occasionally.  We have plenty of foreign neighbors, latinos and European, but a majority of the street are card carrying republican conservatives.  I also live on a dead end street so won't have many passers by to worry about unless it draws attention.

I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what impact this will have on the possible depreciation of the GL?
