Interesting.   :scratchchin:  when I did a search for the kkk of Carolina the website they have is kinda crazy. But, the only thing with a confederate flag was one patch.   It had the American and confederate flags.   In the online store they don't sale the confederate flag.   :scratchchin:
Conclusion, it's NOT the official flag like many say.   Most kkk websites are showing the American flag.

In all honesty, I wonder what percentage of Americans of African decent have actually experienced real racial hatred?  I'm not talking about the first celebrity being asked at Target by a handicapped lady wanting something off the top shelf.  I'm talking about actually being bullied for being who they are.  Most of them that I know, are nice, and have been respectful.  Of course, I treat them the same way, like I do most everyone.  I would think that if there are racial tensions, I wouldn't be treated the way that I have.  Of course, I haven't experienced all of the North or South in a high racial integration area either.

I'm anticipating the DOH going back on the air with a "blurred out" flag, like the way they censor some nudity on TV. Kinda like old Japanese porn!  :smilielol: Yeah, I was stationed in Japan for many years.

I doubt that .01 percent of blacks of this day and age living in the US have experienced true racism like those endured in the 50s or 60s.  It is more likely "perceived" racism that they've encountered, and that is something that they've likely been told is racist.  Keep in mind that I do NOT count profiling as racism.  I believe that is just good police work, look for the most suspicious, what doesn't fit in with the rest of the picture, and look closer at it.  If looking for Illegal aliens, don't stop old white women...they aren't likely to be illegal. Look for someone that looks like they might possibly be an illegal...someone that looks foreign...which is hard to do in the US where we have so many races/cultures.  But if you see a Honda civic with 8 people inside, that is a likely candidate.

I really thought deep inside, that when the country elected a black president, that our efforts to eradicate racism had made huge strides, but have been deeply disappointed that for the past 7 years every little conflict between the races has been blown out of proportion and labeled racism. I believe race relations have been set back at least 10 years because of THIS president, and his Attorney Generals. When will the black community admit that their youth are to blame for their actions instead of blaming everything on everyone else? There is a reason why blacks make up a large majority in prisons...they are the ones that got caught because they do things in the open where people can see them do it, and they couldn't put up a successful defense of why they got pulled over at 2am  in a car with 3 others, and each of them was carrying a gun.  White people just don't do that, we don't usually go around carrying our guns when in our cars.  Some do, a few carry rifles in trucks but those are just hunters for the most part.  When will blacks accept legal judgements or trials against one of their kind without resorting to looting and rioting afterwards? I haven't seen a white riot since the 60s or early 70s.  When will they treat cops with respect and trust? or at least stop resisting arrest? I know that when I get pulled over, I don't argue, I don't make excuses and I don't try to lie my way out of it, I usually admit I did something wrong and usually get a warning.  (not always) When I got arrested in my younger years, I went calmly to jail, worked thru the paperwork and got released without fighting the cop who is just doing his job.  When I was jailed for speeding...I didn't challenge the police force or courts or try to blame someone, I admitted I was speeding, had someone pay my fine for me (and promptly paid them back) and was let go, no harm, no foul.  You have to be willing to admit you were wrong, or that you made a mistake, many of the situations seen on TV of late show that the black man who got shot did something to arouse suspicion before a cop got involved, or they didn't follow directions given by the cop.

Back on topic, I read yesterday that some museum has offered to buy LEE1 from the guy that mentioned he would paint over the flag.  And they said they'd pay market value for it, he should take it rather than deface a TV Icon.

The total percentage of flag-wavers who are racist isn't HIGH but it's probably a lot higher than in the general population.

Therefore, the rest of the country is just "profiling" when they have racism suspicions of everyone waving the flag.

Actually, I find those who wear "'MERICA" on their shirts, etc, offensive. It's The United States of America, or The United States. Not "MERICA, or some other lazy or urban slag of our respected nation's name.  :Twocents:

I don't recall anyone saying it was the official flag of the KKK, just that it has been used by them in the past and was a favorite of lone wolf racists, whom also identify with the KKK agenda. As some history buffs can point out , the Confederate flag at the core of this issue was never an official CSA flag and was only used as a battle flag by the Army of Tennesse, the Army of northern Virginia, and the CSA Navy. The states that now have a version of it in their state flags only added it after Federal legislation for de-segregation was implemented goes to show that it was modified to again point the middle finger at the Fed but was specifically tied to perpetuation of racism. Personally, I'm surprised it took 60-70 years for this to come to this point know when and why it was added to those state's flags.

If not for the simple act of lowering it at a memorial after a terrible incident of murder, its very likely none of this would have happened, picture or not.

Since we had a long weekend recently and I was able to talk to some of my black and mixed race friends about the subject, most saw it as non-issue for the General Lee, Dukes of Hazzard, or other merchandising. However, hang it off the back of a pick up with a bunch of drunk guys in the back, and the nervousness level jumps up appreciably. To be fair they also said they would have the same level of apprehension at the local convienance store if a number of drunken youths in hoodies were hanging around.

You do know that it is racist to leave out those who "identify with being black".    :scratchchin:

So, are they Black Americans or are they Americans that happen to be black?  Which way does their loyalty lean to?

 :Twocents:

It doesn't need to be an either/or question.

Agreed, anyone in North America should be able to have pride for home and heritage both.

And everyone should be entitled to fly a flag that they feel pertains to their heritage without being looked down at because it may offend someone. To each his own. It's not really just about a flag it's about freedom to choose weather or not to embrace something without being told that it's wrong.

I agree as well, but that's sort of the predicament that we've been put into.  You either are, or aren't.  Unfortunately, there is no middle ground, or no opinion option either, at least in the eyes of the media, or the gov.  I'll be happy when it's all over.

I'm thinking about adding one.  It has nothing to do with the shooting either. That kid should be thrown into General Population too.

Lol, I thought the same thing. About adding one that is... and the ladder!

Talked with my brother this morning in N Carolina.  He says things are getting bad and lots of bad talk about dividing the country again from the southerners.  I don't blame them.   I think unfortunately this needs to explode to really put an end to all this pc crap and wake people up.
All this flag crap will do is cause more anger, hatred and destroy any progress that's been made over the years.
The more I think about it the more I hope it does explode.   Let them see what they've started.    Hope it's worth it.
Furthermore, Warner bros, Amazon, Wal-Mart and any others that make a louder voice than the average Joe public, I hold responsible for encouraging this divide.    :flame:

A divided nation right now, is not what we need.  Doing so, would give the Celebrity an excuse to declare martial law and remain in power, overriding the people's voice in next year's elections.  We need to let tensions ease.  Hopefully, no one else will conduct any racial attacks.

A friend of mine from NY called and asked me if I was going to sell the General Lee. I said, NO.

First time in 15 years he's acted weird on the phone. And he's a conservative NY'er  :shruggy:

Hate to tell you this JB, we're already divided and in trouble.   A pacifier only last So long.   Enough is enough.  NO MORE POLITICAL CORRECTNESS AND OR SENSITIVITY BULLSHIP.   Our country is becoming pussy's.  I'M sorry if some African Americans are offended but guess what?   Do they want to know what offends us about their culture?    I think we're tired of supporting them in the ghettos.

I feel the need to ask the question....why do various groups of Americans identify themselves with a hyphenated label?  I am talking about names such as Africa-American, and Mexican-American.  WHY, if they feel the need to label themselves don't they say American-Africa, or American-Mexican.....or better yet just drop the hyphen all together and call yourself an AMERICAN.  I hate seeing the hyphen used in this manner as it is divisive.  Over two hundred years ago this country was started on the foundation that all men are created equally and have God given rights.  Sadly some had to wait far too long for that "equally", but that is past history and today most every American enjoys a level of freedom that even our founding fathers could not have imagined.   So drop the hyphen and join us all as Americans.

Yes, if you want "a piece of the pie" so to speak it may require hard work on your part....but then since when has anything worth having been easy to get or keep?  If you fail to understand, just visit Arlington...and tell me it's been easy to keep American free for all of us to enjoy the life style we have.

Do yourself a favor and listen to John Wayne's "America, why I love her".....you can find it on-line if you don't want to spend the money to buy the CD.  One of the songs is called "The Hyphen" were he talks about "a simple little line that is so divisive"......

The Flag isn't the issue....perhaps it's the hyphen..........

Meanwhile the Trans-Pacific Partnership is breezing through, and lord knows what else the flag & gay marriage stories have been keeping off the news stations.

The rebel flag, gay marriage, police brutality . . . it's all getting one part of the 99.9% to fight another part of the 99.9%.  None of this stands to cost those in power any real money.

Lord Warlock

Its sad to see the liberal left being able to set the agenda when they are the minority in the country by a substantial margin. I am sick and tired of political correctness, mamby pamby catering to kids, not being able to discipline kids then getting blamed or fined when they act up like most do.  I feel sorry when I see them eat their own icons in the process, just because that person disagreed with how to go about it.

I'm a bit disappointed to hear Bill Cosby is the cad he is suspected to be, many of the family principles I grew up with were described in his performances, and he endorsed marriage and being devoted to a spouse, only to find out now he was screwing around on his marriage not once but constantly and telling the rest to do otherwise.  I'm disappointed that a shining example of a successful black family has been dashed, and now we find he was like a majority of black families.  I do blame him for his transgressions, may he get what he deserves.  What role models do they look to?

If the Nation continues to divide itself there very well be a divide in the future.  But I do not believe it will be an armed conflict like it was the last time, this time it will be economic and philosophical divides.  Maybe with global warming an ice age will devour the north, and the South will rise again.
