So who's taking the flag off their Chargers?

After all this nonsense about taking the flag down in S Carolina. Who will be the first to remove it from their General Lee?

ACUDANUT

I'm thinking about adding one.  It has nothing to do with the shooting either. That kid should be thrown into General Population too.

I'm wondering if I should hurry up and buy a GL diecast before they remove the flag.

There's also talks of redoing the Mississippi flag as well.  Too bad nobody realizes they're complaining about the North Virginia battle flag instead of the actual Confederate flag.

The actual difference and applications are inmaterial to the media and most proponents at this point. Unfortunately, I'm afraid this has too much momentum and too much bad mojo for it to successfully be seen otherwise.

A similar case in point- the swastika predates Nazi Germany by a 10,000 years and has been found in many different cultures around the globe who have viewed it as a good luck sign, but since 1945 it has inherited an entirely different connotation that has over shadowed all of its previous history.

Not a chance. I'm of the opinion that WB should put the flag back ON their GL!!!

Walmart had items with the confederate flag on it for sale and took them off the shelves asap.

In the real world people mostly give the GL a free pass to wear the flag.  It was an inoffensive usage and everyone knows it.  Everybody says things like, "Well, I don't mind it on that car, but you'd better look out for all the other people who will."

IMO the GL is from the 1970s (bad remake movies aside).  Keeping the flag is a matter of historical accuracy if nothing else.  The Nazi swastika doesn't belong on a modern German aircraft but it does belong on a restored WWII German Messerschmidt.

----------------------------

In the long term IMO the flag's public acceptability is doomed.  Like it or not there is too much momentum against it.  Matter of time.

Eventually the region needs to settle on some other symbol to mean "I (red heart) the South".  That's mainly why people fly it today.

when you buy a general lee model car, the flag is not on the car in the pictures on the box, but does come with the flag decal in the box, that pisses me off...

The irony is too much to take.  Let's be clear - I don't care if people keep the flag on their GL's.  But there is nothing patriotic about the stars and bars.  The confederate states were traitorous.  You guys get that, right?

Only after we ban inanimate objects can we achieve utopia.

Charger-Bodie

The thing that irritates me about all of this crap is that we're supposed to remove , hide and destroy anything that offends anyone. What about how people are offended by the removing and destroying of the things they hold dear.

It's like if they were to ban red cars because some bad guys killed your cousin while driving a red car. The car isn't the problem. Just like the flag isn't. It's the people that are the problem ,not .........

This is scary. Their are very few people that still breath from even near those times.

Is the intent to erase symbols from another era as a way forward?  A big cop out to the job we hire/vote people to do. Something like this will only stagnate (at best) a way forward.

I see it as a personal agenda from a few that have media attention and a place in the gov. and are not serving the voters well.

If something like a symbol from a hundred years ago is up front of our current issues than we have not moved forward. :Twocents:

Sorry if this comes off as being political but that is the whole substance of what this is.

And yet there are no plans at Walmart to eliminate merchandise with Ernesto 'Che' Guevara's face plastered all over it.
