I can't name a single flag that doesn't have blood on it. How many Indians did the United States slaughter?

Lord Warlock

Actually the swastika didn't stand for murder, it meant something totally different, it was just carried by the murderous crazed militant germans who couldn't accept the punishment for fighting world war I and losing.  Most of the world now views the flag the same way as they viewed Nazi's. and rightly so.  And now only the counterculture still uses it as well as the rebel flag even though the mainstream does not feel the same way.  In 50+ years of life, a majority of it here in the south, I have NEVER encountered anyone that wished slavery was allowed again today, I've met clan members before and quickly distanced myself from those idiots but even they didn't think enslaving other races was right in todays world.

The White race is the only race that is not allowed to defend itself, not allowed to support each other, nor gather in groups based on race as is allowed to happen with blacks, as well as many other races. It isn't fair, people should be free to gather where they want, when they want with whoever they prefer to be with, without worrying about the federal government trying to roust them or arrest them for acting in a way that offends a much smaller number of people.

People up north are still rude to southerners, thinking us as stupid, or slow.  Pretty much just by hearing an accent when we speak.  Don't tell me I'm wrong, I've experienced it firsthand when I moved to South Dakota and lived up North dealing with people who would judge you on your voice alone.  Southerners feel the same way about New Englanders (lived there too) who speak in heavy accents of the north east.

I've been called a yankee in japan as well, didn't know what it meant when I was 8, so didn't care.

At the end of the day the flag should stay on the general lee regardless of all the debate. :2thumbs:

Good point Cnc.   We dam near wiped the Indians out and took over their land with the good old American flag.   I'm offended seeing some black guy dressed like a gangster (because he probably is).  But it's his rights in this "free" county and I have NO right to complain it makes me scared and reminds me of bad things.   Yet most the ghetto music rappers songs are all about violence, cops, nigga this and nigga that, pimping, drugs and money NOT about the confederate flag and that's all OK with them.    Freedom of speech and expression should not be a one sided street.   If a black guy goes into a store with a hoodie on people get nervous he's up to no good.   If you say something you're racist.   If a white guy goes into the store with a rebel flag t-shirt he's a racist full of hate.   When are the white Americans going to have the rights to say something?   The flag is part of the history of this country, if somebody doesn't like it then they are more than welcome to leave.

I'm awful tired of whites being racist no matter what we do and blacks not accepting responsibility for their own failures and faults as a culture and clean up their ways of life and start pointing the finger back at themselves.    By us allowing this flag ban crap just opens the door more for one race to take away more of the freedom that this country is supposed to be about.   It's a flag, get over it.

The irony is too much to take.  Let's be clear - I don't care if people keep the flag on their GL's.  But there is nothing patriotic about the stars and bars.  The confederate states were traitorous.  You guys get that, right?

The stars and bars....is THIS flag:

Although i dont support taking it off the general lee (Dukes of Hazzard being one of the most none racist shows of its time) i do support removing it from other things and if you want to fly it at your house that is your business ,but its roots are founded in racist behavior and i can see that point of view and it is sad that a few racist morons have used it to cause hate and discontent. My wife is German but that dont mean i have the right to fly a Nazi flag because its her heritage ..same rules apply here. I also know this wont be accepted well and I am sorry about that. :Twocents:

While it was used unfortunately by hate groups later on, the rectangular version of the flag, it's roots are as a Navy flag, used on ships....

Not that the idiots leading this charge care about facts, but there are only 3 official "confederate flags" and the one everyone is referring to is not one of them...

Yes the Confederate NAVY, What i should have said is that its roots, it was used on confederate rebels navy ships and is now more widely known to be a symbol  used for racism know.

Unfortunately this is a great example of perception is reality. Justified or not, a lot of people see the flag in a negative light. We have to put up with it.  I agree that it should not be flown at govt buildings.

I hate this- when I was growing up I had that flag on everything- clothes, toys, artwork, etc.. the only way I knew the flag was from the Dukes. I waited over 30 years to get my General Lee and now because a crazed idiot posted a pic of himself on Facebook / Instagram draped in the flag I need to be worried about vandalism every time I drive the car. My concern is my daughters love riding in the car and playing the horn- what happens when another crazed idiot see's us driving to the cruise and opens fire? People will say I was asking for it.

Our neighborhood has a classic car cruise every 4th of July. Kids were excited to take the General Lee and the Bandit in the cruise but now I'm not sure. I am fortunate enough to have other cars to drive but it pisses me off.

Hell, I live in TX and probably won't have any issues. I will say that more often than not I will have black people want to take pics with the car and of course I let anyone take a pic with the car.  I've never had anyone say anything about it but That doesn't mean it didn't offend anyone. I really think when people see the General Lee it evokes different emotions than hate.

I too have been made fun of for living in TX, talking slow, not being well cultured and knowing what wine goes with what sushi. But you know what? It's part of being different. If anyone gives me a hard time about the flag I will park it in the garage, drink beer and look at it until the media has another story to take this one over.

Sorry for the rant.

We can't let a lil thing like facts get in the way of liberal bias supported by the majority of our liberal news media.
Today you are witnessing the demise of the confederate flag being displayed in public.
Tomorrow it will be the Ole Glory ... Mark my words
Somebody will declare to be offended by it and it will be abolished just like the confederate flag.
Hide & watch  :shruggy: This country is in serious trouble and in great decline.

I agree and it is our decline that will be the ultimate game changer. It seems to be in our nature to ignore the lessons of the past.

Each generation has a handle on the best way forward and tend to finally react in desperation at the last minute to squeak by.

This has been going on for thousands of years. Just in time fixing things is not a comfortable way to live but it clearly is the way of humans. ::)

I went today to several of the hobby stores and picked up 3 of the regular General Lee model kits and found one of the 1/16th scale kits. I hate to see something like this take my favorite car in the whole world not to mention the most recognized car in the world off the shelves of the hobby shops and wal mart's but it may happen. Like said above once they run this subject into the ground they will just find something else to complain about.....  :brickwall:

I'll throw in my  :Twocents: since most forums I am on don't allow political threads.

I live in a town that has alot of Confederate history. Jefferson Davis spent a few nights in a home in town, there is a Confederate Unknown graveyard with about 50 soldiers in town that always has a Confederate flag up. Also lost multiple important buildings destroyed by Union soldiers.

I grew up visiting all of them on school field trips and memorial day events. Never once was there a feeling of racism around the events. Just people remembering how their ancestors fought for what they believed in their time. Just because you honor the lives that were lost doesn't mean that you share their beliefs.

Since he took a picture with a flag and put it on facebook his crime is now tied to the flag. By that logic facebook needs to be shut down (personally that wouldn't bother me) and he took the picture with a iphone so lets pull all those off the shelf their now associated with racism.

It took 150 years for it to become a large problem and it seems like we are starting to go down the same path that lead to the civil war.

Abraham Lincoln:

"Human nature will not change. In any future great national trial, compared with the men of this, we shall have as weak and as strong, as silly and as wise, as bad and as good. Let us therefore study the incidents in this as philosophy to learn wisdom from and none of them as wrongs to be avenged."

You guys need to do what I did today. .seriously do it. I called a Walmart corporate number and told them I was offended that they removed rebel flag merchandise and told them I was going to never buy from them again. Then I called the Alabama governors office and said shame on him and I hope he never gets re elected to any office.i next called the South Carolina governors office and did the same thing. Then I called Amazon and told them off as well! Everyone on here needs to do that. It took me less than 30 mins for all the calls and I will sleep better tonight knowing I did my part!

So, in short, they (African Americans) can sing about killing cops because of freedom of speech but we can't have a flag? ???   Is this really happening and why are we doing this?    White mans guilt should only go so far but never to the point that we're losing our freedoms.

I personally would love to hear African Americans explain this double standard.  Explain why they can say what they want and it's ok yet white Americans cannot.   Explain why they (of all people) think that the rights of freedom of speech or expression only applies to them.

I tell you what, the African Americans need to give up their freedom of speech by no more gangster rappers glorifying killing, drugs and pimping and we'll give up a flag.   Oh but wait a minute, this is America, land of the free and we can't do that.
You tell me which one is doing more damage.

Which is an interesting point if you want to espouse the use of the Confederate flags as a point of southern pride. What doesn't anyone use any of the first variations when the CSA were victorious and winning the war?

Don't you guys get it?  America and its presence has been the most powerful and influential in the world for decades.  Well guess what?  Anyone who isn't part of this great nation either resents it, envies it, wants to destroy it, or at the very least dilute and Transform it into something more in line with their world view.  America has always been a force to be reckoned with on so many levels that the world wants to convert America into something they agree with and can feel comfortable and safe about.  They'll do this by attacking America's history, heritage, it's citizens around the world, it's tallest buildings in crowded cities, whatever it takes; it happens in the headlines all of the time.  Are we going to let this happen?  The answer looks like YES....

I think you (and many others here) are confusing the issues, skippy.

This is not a freedom of speech issue. Like I said earlier, no one is telling you that you can't fly or display the flag. There is a difference between a public institution (a state government) saying it won't display it anymore in its buildings and the same institution telling you that you can't have one. The latter IS suppression of speech, but that's not the case here. Hate/racist speech is protected speech (for the most part).

You do bring up an interesting thing here with the rap lyrics. Did you know Walmart, Target, and a bunch of other retailers have refused (for decades) to carry certain music, video games, and movies that are violent? Is that an infringement on your rights? And is it just "African American" rap lyrics that are violent? What about Johnny Cash singing about killing people? Or "I shot the Sheriff"?

I didn't know you people were so oppressed by the man. I guess its true what they say....maybe we really do live in a victim society. And I guess this is how old white guys get in on it.

I remember when they removed the flag from the General Lee that's was on display at the Peterson Car Museum (correct me if I am wrong).  If I remember the story the car was/is owned by Warner Brothers and they removed so as not to offend anyone.....well they offended me, by thinking that I am that stupid in that I would change any views I have based on a car not having a decal on it.......

The whole movement against the flag has done more to drive a wedge between certain groups than it has in bringing these groups together.  Perhaps that was the plan all a long...I don't know.  But the truth is most never known the history of the flag or really cared...until now.

Does anyone anywhere actually look at a flag or symbol and magically transform into a racist?  The only time a symbol has power is when someone else is offended by it.  Go ahead and ban the rebel flag if you need but it will not eliminate racism.  It wont even make a dent in it.  It will of course reinforce the idea in the minds of the mindless that it must somehow be a symbol of bad and give the racists something to rally around and by doing so help their brainless cause.  The best thing people who are offended by a symbol can do is ignore it.  Before long there will be a new offensive symbol for the offended to be upset over and there will be great debate over that too and once again, the only ones smiling about it will be ones who adopted it.
I say ignore the symbols and it takes away the power of the symbol. :Twocents:
