Okay let's pose this question then if this Flag thing is all about racialism.

How many of you members here are black and have a General with the full blown graphics package on it and are not offended by the flag and  have no intention of removing it?  :shruggy:

Also among those members how many of you now feel you have been singled out because you are black and have a General?

Will you sell it because you don't feel comfortable having it anymore.  Pretty Fu **ed up inst it ?

This should answer a lot of questions fellas.

The flag is not about racism when i pertains to the general lee .. that is the issue, however most  people view it as symbol of hate because of what it has represented in its past to most people.

.........mainly distracts from the deeper causes of all this.

Are you kidding me!  Actually ask,  "where the "f" were this kids parents?"  Or,,,,  who are raising the young black men who get shot for not obeying authority?
Naah,,,, better just ban the flag.  Much less work....

TV Land has pulled DOH from its schedule: http://www.caintv.com/tv-land-pulls-dukes-of-hazzard

Also, not sure if this was mentioned but, " Warner Bros.' consumer division announced on June 24 that it will stop licensing toy cars and models featuring the General Lee with the flag."

skip68

The General Lee will NOT be given a pass.
Several discussions calling the 1969 Dodge Charger General Lee as one of the most popular symbols of racism.   Warner bros will not be licensing any others to the rights for products.

I was just getting ready to post the same thing.....

TV land sucks....I use to watch it for the reruns of "good" TV shows from the past....but, they seem more interested in new programing with an "edger" side to them.  ME TV is much better....my two cents.  (Yes, I plan to drop them a line and express my displeasure with their decision regarding The DoH.

This past weekend I dropped by my local Hobby Lobby and picked up both the 1/24 and 1/18 scale kits of the General Lee since it looks as if they will be gone off the shelves in the future since Warner Bros. is stopping the licensing of the kits.....get them while you can....(I have some of the older packages and they clearly show the flag...I guess I need to burn them as they are evil....)

Thanks Keith.

Troy and mods, this affects a lot of us so thanks for letting this continue.   I will be sure to do the best I can to police myself so as not to get this locked.  I fully expect some of us to be getting backlash by new members looking to start trouble.  Hopefully I'm wrong and it doesn't happen.

You're not supposed to go to Hobby Lobby either. Or eat lunch at Chick-fil-a. The list of PC no-nos is getting very long.

It's so frustrating to see the momentum continuing to grow. :eek2:

That recent move by WB is a good example of a -perceived- need to get distance from the confederate flag. The very fact that they made that move adds to the problem. :brickwall:----Shame on WB---

Since the orange color of the GL is so closely associated with the imagined (or new found) image of who might own one (because of the flag) I can see this moving to the color it's self let alone the classic shape of the charger.

What a sad commentary could come in the near future about the history of the 2nd gen. chargers. ---The DOH gave much popularity to the car and could perhaps take it all back. :slap:

The best we can hope for as charger owners is the short attention span of the general public.

I see this lasting until another race related story puts the fire out on this one. :Twocents:

Cncguy

It's also trade in your confederate flag weekend at Daytona. I guess they give you an American flag for it.

Just signed the petition and I don't know if it will help but it's worth a shot. If you are for keeping the dukes and the general lee alive please sign the petition!!!!

:2thumbs: Thanks for that Skip.   I also intend to restrain my comments in interest of the value of this topic to sec. gen charger owners.

 I need to add that I'm glad I'm not a moderator. It's tough enough understanding my own opinion. To have to deal with many and keep the peace has to-- at times bring the question? What is right/best for the whole? to letting things flow as they will. At least in this case.

I dream of a government that would do that.--OOps :slap: off topic. :icon_smile_wink:

Apparently, no one at that fine establishment has ever gooogled "Southern 500"  :scratchchin:

1965gp

Anyone know what they drove on 'All in the Family'?

Seriously- Same era, you have a show that was clearly racially motivated and I bet you can buy the dvd's  at Wal Mart and Amazon and nobody cares.

In Houston they are putting together a movement to re-name our schools named after Confederate soldiers. At least our military (today's military) stood up to the media and said they will not be re-naming the bases named after confederate soldiers because they were named in the spirit of unity.

The value of General Lee's is going to drop significantly. People aren't going to want to be associated with it.

Last night I sat in the garage drinking beer looking at my GL- it's a shame no one else is going to get to enjoy it. I used to let anyone that would ask take a picture with it or in it (and it was a hell of a lot of people!) but not anymore- I don't know who I can or can't trust to do something to the car.

My daughters are devastated and confused. I had to sit them down and tell them that they couldn't draw the general Lee at school anymore because we didn't want anyone to get the wrong impression.

skip68

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't NASCAR started in the south?
So NASCAR is expecting fans to bring in their confederate flags and exchange them for American flags.    :scratchchin:  I hope the southerners boycott NASCAR and stop shopping at Wal-Mart.   This is total B.S.
As I'm typing this and watching the news, dozens of African Americans raided and trashed a Wal-Mart store.    :smilielol:
I find this so fitting.  These are the very people you (Wal-Mart) don't want to offend.
Priceless epic fail.     :slap: :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol: :hah:
