My vintage Goodyear Polyglas F70-14 spare tire has this code: MELD Y4A511

How do I decipher this code? When and where was the tire manufactured?

ME = tire plant = Goodyear - Jackson, MS
LD = tire size = F70-14
Y4A = tire type = fiberglass belted w/RWL
511 - tire date = 51st week of 1971

not trying to high-jack this thread, but what would one of these be worth. i have the spare tire and rim that my car came from the factory with still in my trunk. i don't need it and would like to know how much to ask.

Other same as above except the date which is the 19th week of 1967.

pre-'71 tires are coded differently & the Polyglas didn't exist in '67, also they were done with them at Goodyear by '80-'81???

so, it's 19th week of 1977
